Politics Nigeria is an independent daily and digital newspaper headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria. Launched in August 2016, the Publisher/Editor-in-chief of the Newspaper is Dumebi Emmanuel. [1] [2] [3]
Politics Nigeria was launched in August 2016. The paper is published in two formats: daily broadsheet print edition issued and distributed across newsstands in Nigeria and the online version which is continuously updated. [1] The website of the online version of Politics Nigeria went live on 22 August 2016. In 2019, Alexa listed the paper’s website among top 300 websites in Nigeria. [4] The paper came to limelight following its report on an alleged scandal involving two Indian nationals and a Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola. [1] Politics Nigeria runs polls on candidates running for election on its website. In 2018, the paper conducted a poll on popularity of president Muhammadu Buhari for re-election for a second term in office. The result of the poll showed 70 per cent of respondents voted against the president’s re-election. [5] [6]

Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is a Nigerian politician, he served as the federal minister of transportation of Nigeria from 2015 to 2022 under the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari. He resigned to contest for Nigeria's presidency under the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC). He previously served as governor of oil-rich Rivers State from 2007 to 2015 and speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 1999 to 2007. On 9 April 2022, Amaechi declared his interest to contest in the presidential election in 2023, he came second in the APC presidential primaries held in June 2022 behind eventually winner Bola Tinubu with 316 votes from the delegates.

While speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum in Westminster on Wednesday, 18th of April 2018, the president said, in response to an interview question about a totally unrelated topic, that a majority of the Nigerian youths have not been to school and wanted everything free because the country is an oil-producing state. Young Nigerians soon took to social media to protest against the comment of President Buhari.
