The Politics of Xi'an in Shaanxi province in the People's Republic of China is structured in a dual party-government system like all other governing institutions in mainland China.
The Mayor of Xi'an is the highest-ranking official in the People's Government of Xi'an or Xi'an Municipal Government. However, in the city's dual party-government governing system, the Mayor has less power than the Communist Party of Xi'an Municipal Committee Secretary, colloquially termed the "CPC Party Chief of Xi'an" or "Communist Party Secretary of Xi'an".
In November 2015, Sun Qingyun was put under investigation for alleged "serious violations of discipline", he was placed on two-year probation within the Party, having held the consultative position for only nine months; he was demoted to section rank "non-leading position" (正处级). [1]
On May 22, 2017, Wei Minzhou was suspected of "serious violations of discipline", and placed under investigation by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI). [2]
On October 29, 2018, Shangguan Jiqing was placed on probation within the Communist Party. The Communist government suspended him, and then downgraded him. He has been demoted to less responsible job. The government confiscated his illegal gains. [3] [4]

Chen Anzhong is a former Chinese politician who served in a variety of positions in Jiangxi province. In 2015, he was sentenced to twelve years in prison for corruption.
Zhu Zuoli is a former Chinese politician who spent most of his career in Shaanxi Province. Zhu was the Director of the Shaanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission between 2008 and 2013, a department with broad powers over the provincial economy, and then the Vice-Chairman of the provincial People's Political Consultative Conference (Zhengxie), a mostly ceremonial legislative consultation body. He was placed under investigation for corruption by the Communist Party's internal anti-corruption agency in February 2014, and dismissed from his positions.
Jin Daoming is a former Chinese politician who spent his career in Beijing and Shanxi province. Of Manchu descent, Jin worked for China's top anti-corruption body between 1993 and 2006. He was then transferred to work in Taiyuan as the head of the provincial anti-corruption agency and later, Deputy Party Secretary of Shanxi province. Jin was placed under investigation by the same agency he once worked for on suspicion of corruption in 2014. He was sentenced to life in prison.
Tan Qiwei is a former Chinese politician of Tujia ethnic heritage. He was the Vice Mayor of Chongqing, then the Vice Chairman of the Chongqing People's Congress. He was dismissed from office in May 2014 and placed under investigation by the Communist Party's anti-corruption body.
