Pophouse Entertainment is a private entertainment company based in Stockholm, Sweden. [1] [2] The company creates, acquires, and develops brands in various related fields, such as music, podcasting, stage performance, and gaming. Pophouse invests in music rights, as well as other types of intellectual property in the entertainment industry. Founded in 2014 by Conni Jonsson and Björn Ulvaeus, it has since been affiliated with many of Sweden's most notable entertainment brands including ABBA, [3] Swedish House Mafia [4] and Avicii, among others. [5] [6] Per Sundin currently serves as the group's CEO.
Pophouse Entertainment (also known as Pophouse) was established in 2014 in Stockholm, Sweden by Björn Ulvaeus, a founding member of the musical group ABBA, and Conni Jonsson, founder of EQT AB. [1] Since 2019, the CEO of Pophouse is Per Sundin, who was previously CEO of Universal Music in the Nordics [7] and was instrumental in the emergence of Spotify, [8] as the first music label executive to partner with the streaming platform. On 25 February 2022, the company opened the Avicii Experience, an interactive museum in Stockholm, and a tribute to Tim Bergling's music and life. [11] [12] The opening ceremony was inaugurated by the Swedish royal family. [13]
In March 2022, Pophouse Entertainment acquired the master recordings of the band Swedish House Mafia. [2] [14]
In April 2022, Pophouse recruited James Mcknight, previously creative director of the Harry Potter franchise, as head of entertainment research and development, and also opened their first office in London. [15]
In February 2024, Pophouse acquired the majority of Cyndi Lauper's music catalogue for new projects to promote her legacy. [16]
In September 2021, the company bought Perfect Day Media AB, a media house founded in 2011, that develops and produces podcasts for various media platforms. [17] [18]
In 2022, Pophouse announced they would move into music catalogue investments. [1] According to Bloomberg, "Pophouse is raising a music fund with a target size of up to $1 billion USD, similar to that of Hipgnosis and Round Hill Music Royalty Fund. However, Pophouse has not yet confirmed that claim." [1]
Pophouse was among the major developers of ABBA Voyage, a concert residency by the Swedish pop group ABBA. The concerts feature ABBA as virtual avatars (dubbed 'ABBAtars'), depicting the group as they appeared in 1979. The concerts are held in a purpose-built venue at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, officially called ABBA Arena. [3] [19]
In April 2024, it was reported that Pophouse has bought the hard rock band Kiss for $300 million, including all of their songs along with their brand and intellectual property. [20] [21] [22]

"One of Us" is a song by Swedish pop group ABBA. It was released in December 1981 by Polar Music as the lead single from the band's eighth studio album, The Visitors (1981). Written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, who also produced it, the song has lead vocals by Agnetha Fältskog and is about a woman trying to revive a relationship she had ended. It would become ABBA's last major hit for 40 years, and the last No. 1 single of their career, topping the charts in Belgium, Denmark, West Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands. "One of Us" was also a top-10 hit in countries like Austria, Norway, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. In the US, where it was released in 1983, it only charted on the Billboard Bubbling Under the Hot 100 chart and the Adult Contemporary chart, peaking at number 107 and 33, respectively. The music video for the song was directed by Lasse Hallström, featuring Fältskog as a woman moving into her new house. "One of Us" has since been covered by Pandora in 1995, A-Teens in 1999 and Cher in 2018.
"Ring Ring" is a song by Swedish group ABBA, released as the title track of their 1973 debut album. The single gave the group their big break in several European countries (although the rest of Europe, North America and Australia would be introduced to ABBA the following year). ABBA: Thank You for the Music, An All-Star Tribute was intended to be an American-British television special tribute to the Swedish band ABBA set for release in 2021 on NBC and BBC One. The special was later cancelled, as efforts switched to developing the ABBA Voyage concert residency.
ABBA Voyage is a virtual concert residency by the Swedish pop group ABBA. The concerts feature virtual avatars, depicting the group as they appeared in 1979, and use vocals re-recorded by the group in a Swedish studio specifically for this show, accompanied by a live instrumental band on stage. The concerts are held in ABBA Arena, a purpose-built venue near the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London.
Voyage is the ninth studio album by the Swedish pop group ABBA, released 5 November 2021. With ten songs written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, it is the group's first album of new material in forty years. The album was supported by the dual single release of "I Still Have Faith in You" and "Don't Shut Me Down", released alongside the album announcement on 2 September 2021. "Just a Notion" was issued as the third single on 22 October 2021, followed by the fourth single "Little Things" on 3 December. A digital concert residency in support of the album, ABBA Voyage, opened in London on 27 May 2022.
Per Urban Sundin is a Swedish music executive who has been the chief executive officer (CEO) of Pophouse Entertainment since 2019. Previously, he served as the managing director of Universal Music Sweden and president of Universal Music Nordics from 2008 to 2019.
