Finnmark is a county in the northern part of Norway.
Porsanger is a municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Lakselv. Other villages in the municipality include Børselv, Brenna, Indre Billefjord, Kistrand, Olderfjord, and Skoganvarre.

The Army is the oldest of the Norwegian service branches, established as a modern military organization under the command of the King of Norway in 1628. Brigade Nord is the major combat formation and only brigade of the Norwegian Army. The Brigade will raise 1 new Armoured Battalion in 2026-32. 2nd Battalion are converting to Armoured Battalion from 2020. It is mostly based in mid-Troms north of the Arctic Circle. Until 2009, the brigade was part of the 6th Division.

The Garrison of Porsanger, based at Porsangmoen in Porsanger, located in the Norwegian county of Finnmark 18 km from the city of Lakselv. The garrison is located immediately adjacent to Halkavarre, the largest military training area in Norway. Until 2011, it trained and housed the jegerkompani / ISTAR, formerly a part of the Finnmark regiment, together with Garnisonen i Sør-Varanger and Alta Battalion, as well as a petty officer's training centre for the Home Guard. Since 2019, it has housed the HQ of Finnmark Land Command as well as Porsanger Battalion.
The Guard Hussar Regiment is a cavalry unit of the Royal Danish Army, whose primary task is to train the Guard Hussars for various functions in the mobilisation force. The Guard Hussar Regiment is one of two active cavalry regiments of the Danish Army, and was formed in 2001 through the amalgamation of the original Guard Hussars regiment, Zealand Life Regiment and Danish Life Regiment.
The Telemark Bataljon is a mechanised infantry battalion of the Norwegian Army. It was established in 1993, and is a part of Brigade Nord and stationed at Rena, Hedmark. The battalion consists of five companies/squadrons.
The Prince Edward Island Regiment is a Primary Reserve armoured reconnaissance regiment of the Canadian Forces, 5th Canadian Division, 36 Canadian Brigade Group. The regiment is based in Charlottetown and Summerside, Prince Edward Island.
The 1st Armoured Infantry Brigade was an infantry brigade of the British Army with a long history including service during both the First and the Second World Wars. It was based at Tidworth Camp. Previously, it has been designated 1st (Guards) Brigade, 1st Infantry Brigade, 1st Mechanised Brigade, and under the initial Army 2020 reforms assumed the title of 1st Armoured Infantry Brigade. Under the Future Soldier programme, the brigade merged with the 1st Artillery Brigade to form the 1st Deep Recce Strike Brigade Combat Team.
Jaeger Battalion GSV is a battalion in the Norwegian Army that monitors the 196-kilometer (122 mi) border between Norway and Russia. It is located at Høybuktmoen in Sør-Varanger Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway.

Gákkajávri is a lake that lies in Porsanger Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The 7.4-square-kilometre (2.9 sq mi) lake lies just east of the European route E06 highway, between the villages of Lakselv and Karasjok.
Indre Finnmark District Court was a district court in Finnmark county, Norway. The court was based in the village of Tana Bru. The court existed from 2004 until 2021. It served the municipalities of Nesseby, Tana, Karasjok, Porsanger and Kautokeino. Cases from this court could be appealed to Hålogaland Court of Appeal. The court was led by the chief judge Finn-Arne Schanche Selfors. This court also had two other judges, three prosecutors, and one linguist to help with the bilingual nature of this court.
Enhanced Forward Presence (EFP) is a NATO-allied forward-deployed defense and deterrence military force in Northern, Central and Eastern Europe. This posture in Northern Europe through Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania and in Central Europe through Poland, Slovakia and Hungary and in Eastern Europe through Romania and Bulgaria, is in place to protect and reassure the security of NATO's Northern, Central and Eastern European member states on NATO's eastern flank.
Allied Forces North Norway (NON) was a NATO command tasked with the defense of Northern Norway. NON's area of responsibility covered the three northernmost counties of Norway: Nordland, Troms and Finnmark, as well as the adjacent sea territory. It formed part of Allied Forces Northern Europe.

Vestre Finnmark District Court is a district court located in northern Norway. This court is based at two different courthouses which are located in Alta and Hammerfest. The court serves 7 municipalities in the eastern part of Finnmark and one municipality (Kvænangen) in Troms. The court in Alta accepts cases from the municipalities of Alta, Loppa, and Kvænangen. The court in Hammerfest accepts cases from the municipalities of Hasvik, Hammerfest, Måsøy, Nordkapp, and Porsanger. The court is subordinate to the Hålogaland Court of Appeal.
