Porterville is a city in the San Joaquin Valley, in Tulare County, California, United States. It is part of the Visalia-Porterville metropolitan statistical area. Since its incorporation in 1902, the city's population has grown as it annexed nearby unincorporated areas. The city's July 2019 population was estimated at 59,599.
High Point Terrace is a neighborhood located in the heart of the city of Memphis, Tennessee. The High Point Terrace Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Louis Sullivan Bungalow was a vacation home for noted architect Louis Sullivan on the Gulf Coast in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its association with Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright, who both claimed credit for its design. It was built in the early 1890s and restored in the 1980s, but was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
The Wilson Building is an historic 8-story building in the Main Street district of downtown Dallas, Texas. The building was completed in 1904 and patterned after the Palais Garnier in Paris, France. The historic structure fronts Main Street on the south, Ervay Street on the east, and Elm Street on the north. The Wilson building was the tallest structure in Dallas from 1904–1909 and was considered the premier commercial structure west of the Mississippi. The Wilson Building is situated across from the flagship Neiman Marcus Building and is adjacent to the Mercantile National Bank Building.
The Sucarnoochee River is a river in Kemper County, Mississippi and Sumter County, Alabama. It originates at 32.69877°N 88.48470°W, near Porterville, Mississippi, and discharges into the Tombigbee River at 32.42322°N 88.04564°W. It is 49.5 miles (79.7 km) long and drains an area of 607 square miles (1,570 km2).
St. Elmo is a ghost town in Chaffee County, Colorado, United States. Founded in 1880, St. Elmo lies in the heart of the Sawatch Range, 20 miles (32 km) southwest of Buena Vista and sits at an elevation of 9,961 feet (3,036 m). Nearly 2,000 people settled in this town when mining for gold and silver started. The mining industry started to decline in the early 1920s, and in 1922 the railroad discontinued service. The community is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the St. Elmo Historic District. It is one of Colorado's best preserved ghost towns.
The Lyceum–The Circle Historic District is a historic district within the University of Mississippi campus in Oxford, Mississippi. It includes eight buildings and several monuments lining University Circle, and surrounds "The Circle" on the campus. The university was established as the flagship public institution of the state, and generations of leading families' sons and daughters have studied here.

The Downtown Commercial Historic District in Muscatine, Iowa is a historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. At that time, it included 93 contributing buildings, one other contributing object, and 18 non-contributing buildings. The city of Muscatine was established as Bloomington in 1836. The original town was built on land that is generally flat along the Mississippi River. Residential areas were located on the surrounding hills. Commercial and industrial interests developed on the flatter land near the river. Muscatine's commercial and industrial center had developed in a 12-block area along Front Street, now Mississippi Drive, and 2nd Street between Pine Street and Mulberry Street by 1874. This area, represented by the Downtown Commercial Historic District, is the city's original commercial area. Within its boundaries is a large number of 19th-century commercial buildings, many of which were modified in the first half of the 20th century.
Mount Sterling is an unincorporated community in Choctaw County, Alabama, United States. Mount Sterling was once a prosperous antebellum community, with an economy based on cotton and timber, but today little is left other than a few scattered houses. One church building, the Mount Sterling Methodist Church, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Causeyville, Mississippi is a small community in southeastern Lauderdale County, Mississippi, about twelve miles southeast of the city of Meridian. The Causeyville Historic District consists of four buildings at the center of the community–two general stores and two residences–that exemplify the pivotal contribution that small communities like Causeyville made to the development of Lauderdale County. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
First Congregational Church is a historic church building at 165 E. Mill Street in Porterville, California. The church was built in 1908 by Porterville's Congregationalists. San Francisco architects Francis W. Reed and George C. Meeker designed the church; their design applies the principles of the First Bay Tradition to a Gothic Revival plan. The design includes a shingled wooden exterior, typical of the First Bay Tradition, and a Gothic spire and arches; the church is the only building in the southern San Joaquin Valley to incorporate both styles. The new church building served as an "institutional church" which also provided community services, including an auditorium, a gymnasium and swimming pool, and a private kindergarten.

The U.S. Post Office, located at 65 W. Mill Ave., is the main post office in Porterville, California. Built from 1933 to 1937, the post office was designed by H. Rafael Lake in the Art Deco style. The design features decorative terra cotta plaques over the windows and cast aluminum plaques below the front windows, decorative features used in no other building in Porterville. A terra cotta frieze atop the front entry features eagle and acanthus motifs borrowed from Roman designs and a sunrise pattern typical of Art Deco decorations. The building is topped with a green tile roof, an unusual element in Art Deco buildings which is consistent with the vernacular Mission Revival style common in Porterville architecture. The post office is one of three Art Deco post offices remaining in California.
The R. M. Jones General Store, also known as the Crossroads Store, is a historic general store in Jones Crossroads, Troup County, Georgia. The rock building was constructed by Monroe Jones in 1903. It has been owned and operated by members of the Avery family since the 1920s. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 10, 2009. It is located at 6926 Whitesville Road. The store's history is noted on a historical marker for Jones Crossroads.
The Spengler–Thomas Building is a historic 2-story brick commercial building in Jackson, Mississippi. It was built in 1909 and was home to Bowers Brothers Dry Goods in 1910, then Maloney Brothers Dry Goods and Grocery which was joined by S.N. Thomas Department Store on one side of the building. Southern Business College and a Masonic Lodge were located upstairs by 1917. S.N. Thomas's Sons Company took over the building except for the lodge and occupied it until the 1990s. In 2000 the building was bought and restored in a project completed in 2002. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 9, 2003. It is located at 129 South President Street.
The B.S. Ricks Memorial Library is a historic library in Yazoo City, Mississippi. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 18, 1975. It is located at 310 North Main Street. The library was founded in 1838 as a membership library. In 1900 Fannie Ricks helped fund construction of the B. S. Ricks Memorial Library building, named after her late husband General B.S. Ricks. It opened in 1901 and had its formal dedication on January 1, 1902. It remains in use.
Mississippi Highway 498 is a state highway in eastern Mississippi. The highway starts at U.S. Route 45 near Porterville, and it travels eastward from its western terminus. One mile (1.6 km) later, MS 498 ends near a railroad crossing west of Porterville, and the road continues as Porterville–Alabama Road. The route was designated around 1957, from US 45 to the Alabama–Mississippi state line. MS 498 was truncated to Porterville by 1970.
