Production

On February 14, 2011, a second season of ten episodes was ordered and began airing on January 6, 2012, at 10 pm ET/PT. [1] Guest stars for this season include Penny Marshall, Jack McBrayer, Tim Robbins, Robin Pecknold, Andy Samberg, Joanna Newsom, [2] Amber Tamblyn, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kristen Wiig, [3] Edward James Olmos, James Callis, St. Vincent, [4] Isaac Brock, [4] LaMarcus Aldridge, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Ed Begley, Jr., Jeff Goldblum, Sean Hayes, Miranda July, Kumail Nanjiani, Eddie Vedder [5] and Ronald D. Moore.

Season 2, episode 3 of Portlandia included the sketch "No Grocery Bag" which was filmed at a Zupan's Markets store. [6] [7] The sketch spoofed the consumption of organic food, [6] as well as Portland's ban on plastic bags. [8]

Showalter wrote and directed The Baxter (2005), in which he starred with Michelle Williams, Justin Theroux, and Elizabeth Banks. Jedediah P. Aaker is a musician, performer and a theatrical producer. He is also the cofounder of the Portland Beardsmen. He has worked as bartender for a failing club featured on the fourth season of Bar Rescue and as host of Barfly Bus Tours. Alternative newspaper Willamette Week dubbed him a "beard-about-town". In a 2018 feature article titled "Twilight of the Hipsters", the French edition of Rolling Stone introduced Aaker as an "actor, concert booker, chauffeur for rock stars, and distributor of the Lucky Egg vending machines that he installs in bars."
