Portsmouth Navy Seahawks were a rugby league team based in Gosport, Hampshire. They played in the South Premier Division of the Rugby League Conference. The Seahawks, as a club, is open to non-service players as well as members of the Royal Navy. The club is now renamed United Services Portsmouth Seahawks Rugby League Club.
Gosport & Fareham Vikings joined the London & South Division of the Rugby League Conference in 2003. The club made a mid-season withdrawal in 2005 and didn't return to the Conference until 2007, this time to the South Division.
Gosport & Fareham Vikings became Portsmouth Navy Seahawks for the 2008 season and took part in the Rugby League Conference South Premier Division finishing fifth.

The men's first XV currently play in London 3 South West following their relegation from London 2 South West at the end of the 2018–19 season. The men's second XV will play in Hampshire Premier from the 2018–19 season.

The Gosport and Cosham lines were a collection of railway lines in southern Hampshire. Most of the lines are now closed but some elements are still in use, forming part of the West Coastway line. The lines originally linked to the main London to Southampton line via the Eastleigh–Fareham line and subsequently with a line from Southampton via Bursledon, both of which are still in use.

London 2 South West is an English level 7 Rugby Union League. When this division began in 1987 it was known as London 3 South West, changing to its current name ahead of the 2009–10 season. The division is made up of teams predominantly from south-west London, Surrey, and Hampshire. The 12 teams play home and away matches from September through to April. Each year all clubs in the division are also invited to take part in the RFU Intermediate Cup - a level 7 national competition.

Each year some of the clubs in this division also take part in the RFU Junior Vase - a level 9-12 national competition.

Promoted clubs move into London 2 South West. Relegated clubs move into either Surrey 1 or Hampshire Premier depending on their location, with sides coming up from these divisions, although only 1st XV clubs are allowed in London 3 South West. Each year all clubs in the division also take part in the RFU Senior Vase - a level 8 national competition.

The Hampshire Cup is an annual rugby union knock-out club competition organised by the Hampshire Rugby Football Union. It was first introduced during the 1970–71 season, with the inaugural winners being U.S. Portsmouth. It is the most important rugby union cup competition in Hampshire, ahead of the Hampshire Bowl and Hampshire Plate.
