Potions is the first album from Gerard Starkie, formerly of Witness. It is the follow-up to the album Drawbridge that was made available for free download in 2006.
Potions was released on Lupine Records in July 2011. All songs were written by Starkie, but various musicians feature on the album such as Joe Allen, Joe Gallimore, Gina Griffin, Catherine Hay, Matt Sampson and former Witness members Dylan Keeton, John Langley and Julian Poole.

Skyhooks were an Australian rock band formed in Melbourne in 1973. Their classic lineup (1974–1977) comprised Graeme "Shirley" Strachan (vocals), Greg Macainsh, Red Symons, Bob "Bongo" Starkie, and Imants "Freddie" Strauks (drums).

Joseph Antonio Cartagena, better known by his stage name Fat Joe, is an American rapper. He began recording as a member of hip hop group Diggin' in the Crates Crew (D.I.T.C.) in 1992 until pursuing a solo career with the release of his debut studio album, Represent (1993) the following year. Cartegena formed the hip hop group Terror Squad and its namesake record label in the late 1990s, through which he has signed fellow New York artists including Big Pun, Remy Ma, Tony Sunshine, and Cuban Link, as well as then-unknown producers DJ Khaled and Cool & Dre.
"Chains of Love" is a song by English synth-pop duo Erasure, released in May 1988 as their ninth single overall. It was written by Vince Clarke and Andy Bell, and released by Mute Records as the second single from Erasure's third studio album, The Innocents (1988). In the United States, Sire Records released it as the first single. The chorus is memorable for Bell's use of falsetto. The album version was produced by Stephen Hague and was slightly remixed for its single release. Before The Calm is the debut album from the Wigan-based band, Witness. The album was released in the UK in 1999 via Island Records and spawned three singles for the band in "Scars", "Audition" and "Hijacker", with the former two placing in the Top 75 of the UK singles chart.
Gerard Starkie is an English musician and former lead singer of Witness. After Witness split up in 2004, Starkie went on to record his debut album Drawbridge with former Witness band members, releasing it as a free download on his official MySpace site.

The song combines dance, disco, EDM, and pop music to create a laidback atmosphere, accompanied by 1970s-style instrumentation of bongos, electric guitars and pianos.
