Khammam is the city in Khammam district of the Indian state of Telangana. It is the fourth largest city in the state. It is the headquarters of the Khammam district and Khammam mandal also. It is located about 193 kilometres (120 mi) east of the state capital,Hyderabad,61 kilometres (38 mi) from Suryapet,120 kilometres (75 mi) from Warangal and also it is located about 121 kilometres (75 mi) North of the Andhra Pradesh state capital,Amaravathi. The river Munneru flows on the western side of the city. As of 2011 census of India,Khammam urban agglomeration has a population of 313,504. Warangal is a city in the Indian state of Telangana and the district headquarters of Warangal district. It is the second largest city in Telangana with a population of 830,281 per 2011 Census of India,and spreading over an 406 km2 (157 sq mi). Warangal served as the capital of the Kakatiya dynasty which was established in 1163. The monuments left by the Kakatiyas include fortresses,lakes,temples and stone gateways which,in the present,helped the city to become a popular tourist attraction. The Kakatiya Kala Thoranam was included in the emblem of Telangana by the state government and Warangal is also touted as the cultural capital of Telangana.
Kakinada is the sixth largest city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh and serves as the district headquarters of the Kakinada District. It lies on the coast of the Bay of Bengal. J.N.T.U. Banganapalle mangoes is a mango variety produced in Banganapalle of Nandyal District in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It alone occupies 70% percent of total mango cultivable area of the state and was first introduced by the Farmers of Banaganapalli. It was registered as one of the geographical indication from Andhra Pradesh on 3 May 2017,under horticultural products by Geographical Indication Registry. It is also grown in the other parts of India and Pakistan. The fruit is described as obliquely oval in shape,around 20cm in length,with yellow flesh and a thin,smooth yellow skin. The flesh is of a firm,meaty texture and is sweet and lacks fibre. The cultivar is the most sought after in Andhra Pradesh. It is a very late -season variety that is good for canning. This cultivar is a source of vitamin A &C and is also called king of Mangoes.
The Singareni Collieries Company Limited or SCCL is a government-owned-coal mining corporation in India. It is under the ownership of Ministry of Energy,Government of Telangana. The Union Government's administration of the company is through the 49% ownership held by Ministry of Coal. SCCL is currently operating 45 mines where 20 opencast and 25 underground mines in 6 districts of Telangana with a manpower around 45,079 as of Nov. 2020. SCCL is contributing 9.2% in the all India Domestic Production. Since inception (1889) 1.36 BT of Coal is extracted by SCCL and it has proved reserves of 10.84 BT.
Kailasa Venkata Ramiah was an educationist from Andhra Pradesh,India. He was born in Pegallapadu village of Khammam district. He stood first-in-first in both B.Sc and M.Sc from Osmania University and grew to head the Physics Department of Osmania University. He is recipient of the Sir Akbar Hyderi Gold medal and several awards during his career both as student and later as an academician. He finished his PhD in record time and later his research was in quantum mechanics and Raman effect. He published about 100 papers in both national and international journals. He served to become the first vice-chancellor of Kakatiya University (1976–79). He founded the University from its inception. It was his vision and efforts that led to the development of Kakatiya University in a short period of time.
Nelakondapally,also referred to as Nelakondapalli or Nela Kondapalli,is a town and headquarters of a mandal in Khammam district,Telangana,India. It is also an archaeological site important to early Buddhism and Hinduism,where excavations have discovered a major stupa site near an ancient manmade lake,another site where Buddhist and Hindu artwork were carved in pre-3rd century India,both sites also yielding hundreds of ancient rare coins with Shaiva and Vaishnava inscriptions from the dynasties of Andhra Ikshvakus and Vishnukundinas. Nelakondapally is also the birthplace of Bhakta Ramadasu.
Chukka Ramaiah is an Indian educationist and member of the Telangana Legislative Council. He is famously known as "IIT Ramaiah" for teaching at IIT Study Circle,an IIT JEE coaching centre at Nallakunta,Hyderabad. He was a leading Telangana activist.
Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka is an Indian politician who was the second leader of opposition in Telangana Legislative Assembly. He was elected as the member of legislative assembly in 2009 and 2014 elections. He was the chief whip for Government of Andhra Pradesh from 2009 to 2011 and also served as the Deputy Speaker of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 2011 to 2014.
