The Power Loom Tenters' Trade Union of Ireland was a trade union representing workers involved in stretching linen being manufactured in the Belfast area of Ireland.
The union was founded in 1877 as the Belfast and North of Ireland Power Loom Tenters and grew slowly, having only 146 members in 1880, but 452 in 1915, and more than 500 in the 1930s. It was based at Engineers' Hall on College Street in Belfast, where the Flax Roughers' and Yarn Spinners' Trade Union and Flax Dressers' Trade Union also had their headquarters. [1]
In 1937, the union merged into the Transport and General Workers' Union. [2]

The file-grinders had a particularly strong union compared to other societies in the cutlery trade. It was formed in 1845 and had 204 members in 1860, rising to 240 out of 320 employees in the trade in 1890. By 1910 membership had fallen to 195 out of 250 workers. It merged with the Transport and General Workers' Union in 1975.

The Northern Carpet Trades Union (NCTU) was a trade union in the United Kingdom. It was first formed in 1892 in Halifax, West Yorkshire, later expanding to cover all of Northern England. The NCTU was formed later than the Power Loom Carpet Weavers' and Textile Workers' Association, based in Kidderminster, and was considerably smaller. Approximately a fifth of eligible workers were members of the NCTU in 1939, compared to 50 percent for the Kidderminster union. Attempts to amalgamate all unions in the carpet trade failed, but in 1917 the National Affiliation of Carpet Trade Unions was established with equal representation from the NCTU, Scottish Carpet Workers' Union, National Union of Dyers, Bleachers and Textile Workers and Power Loom Carpet Weavers' and Textile Workers' Union.
