The Janata Party is an unrecognized political party in India. It was founded as an amalgam of Indian political parties opposed to the Emergency that was imposed between 1975 and 1977 by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi of the Indian National Congress. In the 1977 general election, the party defeated the Congress and Janata leader Morarji Desai became the first non-Congress prime minister in independent modern India's history.
Darbhanga is the fifth largest city and municipal corporation in the state of Bihar in India, and is considered an important city in North Bihar. It serves as the headquarters of the Darbhanga district and the Darbhanga division. It is held that the name Darbhanga has been derived from Dwar Banga or Dari – Banga, meaning the 'door of Bengal'.

Parvati Devi was an Indian politician based in Bihar. She was a member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from Tarapur Assembly constituency in Munger district of Bihar. Devi belonged to political family of Shakuni Choudhary. Chaudhary was a seven times Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly and a former member of Indian Parliament from Khagaria Lok Sabha constituency. She was a social activist besides being a politician and is known for her social activities in the Munger district of Bihar.
Khagaria Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 40 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies in Bihar state in eastern India. This constituency came into existence in 1957 and from 1957 to 2019, the constituency has elected six parliamentarians from the Yadav caste as well as five parliamentarians from the Kushwaha caste. Both Yadav and Kushwaha community are preponderant in this constituency and dominates the political scenario.
R.L.P. Verma was a former member of Lok Sabha and a leader of Bhartiya Janata Party. He was elected to Lok Sabha from Kodarma in Jharkhand state in India for six terms. Verma represented Jamua Assembly constituency once, from where he was elected in legislative assembly elections in 1972, on the ticket of Bhartiya Jana Sangh. However, on the call of Jai Prakash Narayan for Total Revolution, he resigned from his legislative assembly membership and became a part of the "Sampurna Kranti movement". He was made a candidate of Janata Party for Lok Sabha elections in 1977, and was subsequently elected to lower house of Indian Parliament. Verma has represented Kodarma Lok Sabha constituency for five terms, making him the longest serving Member of Parliament (MP) from this constituency. He was one of the two Member of Parliament of BJP during transformation of Jana Sangh into Bhartiya Janata Party. Verma played instrumental role in strengthening Bhartiya Jana Sangh and later Bhartiya Janata Party in Bihar-Jharkhand region.
Jubba Sahni (1906–1944) was an Indian freedom-fighter and revolutionary. He accepted hanging at the age of 38 years on 11 March 1944. He is remembered as the bravest revolutionary in Bihar.
Dhananjay Mahato was a freedom fighter and social activist who turned politician and later chairman of Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority, Jamshedpur. He was elected as Member of the Legislative Assembly from Ichagarh constituency and Member of Bihar Legislative Council. He was a member of All India Congress Committee.
Dr. Shivpujan Rai was an Indian independence activist. During the 1942 Quit India Movement, under Rai's leadership a group of independence fighters hoisted the tricolor flag of India at Mohammadabad Tehsil. In doing so Shivpujan Rai, Rishishewar Rai, Vans Narayan Rai, Ram Badan Upadhyay, Raj Narayan Rai, Narayan Rai, Vashishtha Narain Rai and Bans Narain Rai sacrificed their life for India's independence on 18 August 1942. All of them are known as Ashta Shaheed of Sherpur.
Mithila Student Union (MSU) (Maithili : मिथिला स्टूडेंट यूनियन) is a non-political student organisation whose sole purpose is the development of Mithila and Maithils living in India. It is one of the largest student organisations in Bihar. It is a registered organization under the provisions of the Societies Registration Act, 1860 under the Indian constitution. Anup Maithil is the founder president of Mithila Student Union. They mostly keep Mithila Art Boarded Maroon Gamchha on their Sholder which is the Symbol of Passion, Love, Bravery and Courage.
Jagat Narain Lal was an Indian independence activist who played an influential role in the making of modern Bihar. As a member of the Indian National Congress and of the Constituent Assembly, he significantly contributed to the debates and issues that chartered the course of the Indian independence. Apart from being one of the foremost leaders of the Congress in Bihar, his association with the All India Hindu Mahasabha makes him a very important figure of India's nationalist history.
Mohan Lal Verma was a leader of Indian independence movement and a lifelong follower of Mahatma Gandhi. After independence he was appointed as MLC - Member of the State Legislative Council from Hardoi constituency from 1948 to 1952. After this tenure he also served the district of Hardoi for a decade as MLA- Member of the Legislative Assembly for two consecutive terms from 1957 to 1967. He won his first MLA election from Sandila constituency in 1957 and again in 1962 from erstwhile Gondwa constituency. Even after his political career he continued to serve the people of Hardoi and bring development to the district until his death.
Satyanarayan Singh was a Member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. He was elected for the Chautham constituency twice between 1990 and 2000 for the Communist Party of India. He was state secretary of the CPI's Bihar unit from 2015.
Samrat Choudhary, also known by his alias Rakesh Kumar is an Indian politician, who is currently serving as Deputy Chief minister of Bihar under Nitish Kumar. He is a member of the Bihar Legislative Council from the Bharatiya Janata Party. He has been the party president of BJP Bihar State unit from March 2023 to 25 July 2024. He has also remained Member of Legislative Assembly and a minister in Government of Bihar in Rashtriya Janata Dal government. Chaudhary has been a former Vice President of BJP for the state of Bihar and currently elected for the second term as MLC in 2020 after his first term ended in 2019. In 2014, Samrat planned a split in Rashtriya Janata Dal by defecting thirteen MLAs as splinter group of the party, later joining the BJP. In 2022, he was selected as the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Council. In 2024, he was also made the convener of Group of Ministers on Goods and Service Tax rate rationalisation panel.
Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi was an Indian independence activist and politician from Nawada district in the state of Bihar. He was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly for two terms and he was a Member of the Bihar Legislative Council for one term. He joined the Communist Party in 1942 and went on to become the State Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) as well as a member of its national Central Committee. He went to jail multiple times for a total of six years both before Independence and after due to his political participation. He was fondly called Ganeshda.
Ganga Narayan Singh was an Indian revolutionary from Jungle Mahals, known as the leader of Bhumij rebellion. He led a revolt against the East India Company in 1832-33. The British called it "Ganga Narain's Hungama", while some historians have called it the Chuar rebellion.
Laxmi Narayan Sudhanshu (1906–1974) was an Indian writer, litterateur, poet, independent activist and political leader. He won the 1952 Bihar Legislative Assembly election from an assembly seat in Purnia. He also held the post of Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from 1962 to 1967. Sudhanshu is known for actively participating in the Quit India Movement in 1942. He was imprisoned in Bhagalpur jail by the Britishers.
Yogendra Singh is an Indian politician from Bihar, who served as member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from Khagaria Assembly constituency. Singh is a veteran leader of Communist Party of India (Marxist). He represented Khagaria Assembly constituency in Bihar Legislative Assembly from 2000 to 2005 by winning the assembly elections of 2000.

Rajesh Verma is an Indian politician, businessman, former Deputy Mayor of Bhagalpur Municipal Corporation and member of Lok Janshakti Party. He has been elected as Member of Parliament from Khagaria Lok Sabha constituency he is committed to patronize the rightsof Mithla-angika people from the hagemony of Bhojpuri & maghi, Bihar in 18th Lok Sabha election. He joined Lok Janshakti in July 2020.
