Praia de Ponta Figo is a subdivision in the western part of the town of Neves in the Lembá District in the northwestern part of São Tomé Island in São Tomé and Príncipe. Its population is 247 (2012 census). [1]
Neves is a town on the north west coast of São Tomé Island in São Tomé and Príncipe. It is the seat of the Lembá District. Its population is 10,068 (2012). The main subdivisions of Neves are Benga, Rosema, Água Tomá, Bom Sucesso and Praia de Ponta Figo. It is the site of a deep-water port that was jointly constructed with Nigeria. Neves is home to some of the few industrial facilities on the island, such as a brewery and a power plant fueled by natural gas and solar energy. The plant was built by a consortium from Angola in 2014. It is capable of producing 30 megawatts of gas power and an additional 5 megawatts of solar power.
Lembá is a district of São Tomé and Príncipe, on São Tomé Island. Its area is 229.5 km2 (89 sq mi), and its population is 14,652 (2012). The district seat is Neves. It is divided into the two statistical subdistricts Neves and Santa Catarina.
São Tomé Island, at 854 km2 (330 sq mi), is the largest island of São Tomé and Príncipe and is home to about 157,000 or 96% of the nation's population. The island is divided into six districts. It is located 2 km north of the equator.
