Prakash Chandra Das (born 27 November 1958) is a politician of Bharatiya Janata Party from the state of Tripura, India. He is a former Minister in the INC-TUJS coalition government that governed the state of Tripura between 1988-1993 and three time MLA. He contested as an Indian National Congress candidate from the Bamutia(SC) constituency six times consecutively from 1988 to 2013 winning thrice, in 1988, 1998 and 2003. [1]
He was born on 27 November 1958. He did his graduation of Bachelor of Arts in History from Maharaja Bir Bikram College, then under the University of Calcutta.
He got involved in politics at a young age through National Students' Union of India in student politics. He contested as an Indian National Congress candidate in the 1988 assembly elections from 3-Bamutia assembly constituency where he defeated the Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate and was also a minister in the INC-TUJS alliance that governed the state from 1988 to 1993. He won again from the same constituency in 1998 and in 2003. He served as vice-president of pradesh youth congress, Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary, member of All India Congress Committee. He was also the chairman of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee SC Department from 2004 till he resigned from the party in June, 2016. He was declared as the vice-president of Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress. He quit trinamool and joined BJP on April, 2017. He rejoined INC in March 2019. He quit INC and joined AITC in July, 2021.
He is very active in matters related to upliftment of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and in bringing equality to them and economically empowering them. He is the President of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Smriti Jan Kalyan Sanstha, a Non-governmental organization.
Purno Agitok Sangma was an Indian politician who has served as the 4th Chief Minister of Meghalaya from 1988 to 1990 and the 11th Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 1996 to 1998. Sudip Roy Barman is an Indian politician from Tripura. He served as the MLA of the Tripura Legislative Assembly from the Agartala constituency which he held since 1998 by winning four elections consecutively on INC ticket by handsome margins. In 2018, he contested from Agartala constituency and won on BJP ticket. On 7 February 2022, he quit BJP and resigned from his MLA post. On 8 February he joined the Indian National Congress in Delhi. Again on 23 June 2022, he contested from Agartala constituency and won on INC ticket defeating his nearest rival of BJP by more than 3500 votes.
Luizinho Faleiro was a former Trinamool Congress politician from Goa who served as a Vice President in the All India Congress Committee of Indian National Congress since 2013 and was In-charge of the 7 North Eastern States of Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Tripura. Previously he served two terms as the eighth Chief Minister of Goa. Faleiro was credited with devising strategies and stitching alliances that led to formation of Governments in Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur. In 2013 was Chairman of the Karnataka Pradesh Assembly Elections Screening Committee, following which the Congress won the Karnataka Assembly Elections. He quit the Indian National Congress on 27th September, 2021 to join the All India Trinamool Congress on 29th September, 2021. On 10 April 2023 he resigned from Trinamool Congress and also resigned from Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament post under the ticket of Trinamool Congress. He is married to Rachel Faleiro and is the father of two sons, Lenin, Rabindra and only daughter Rania.

The 1988 Tripura Legislative Assembly election took place in a single phase on 2 February 1988 to elect the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from each of the 60 Assembly Constituencies (ACs) in Tripura, India. More than 100 individuals were killed in election-related violence in the state of Tripura. Government and TNV representatives agreed to a cessation of military hostilities on August 12, 1988. Several thousand individuals were killed, and some 200,000 individuals were displaced during the conflict.
Billal Miah is an Indian politician from Tripura. He is a former member of the Tripura Legislative Assembly from the Boxanagar, having first been elected in the 1988 and 1998 elections.
