Preeti Dahiya [1] is an Indian amateur boxer. She was a Gold medallist at the 2019 Asian Junior Boxing Championship. [2] [3] [4]

Early life

Preeti Dahiya was born on 16 June 2004 in Delhi in Fateh Nagar, Delhi, India, but she and her family belong to Silana Village of Haryana state's sonipat district. Her father, Harinder Dahiya is a farmer, and her mother, Poonam is a housewife.

Career

She started boxing in 2016 after taking inspiration from Indian kabaddi team captain Deepak Niwas Hooda. After six months of training under the coach Mahendra Singh Dhaka, she won silver medal at the school-level national championships in the same year. She continued her training and in 2019 she won gold medal in the Asian Junior Boxing Championship. She won the lightweight division (60 kg) of the 2021 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships after defeating Kazakhstan's Zuldyz Shayakmetova 3–2. [5] [6] [7]

She trains at the Sports Training Center in Visakhapatnam and is supported by Olympic Gold Quest, a not-for-profit foundation to identify and support Indian athletes. She won the gold medal at the 2008 Asian Women Boxing Championships and the silver medal at the 2008 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championship.

Samjetsabam Sarjubala Devi is an Indian woman boxer from Manipur and represented India at the 2016 Rio Olympics. After being awarded as the Best Boxer at Youth World Women Boxing Championship organised at Turkey, the Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ) announced support for Sarjubala Devi in 2012. She is referred to as the next Mary Kom. She used to be part of the 48 kg category but recently changed it to 51 kg category. After the change she claimed a Gold Medal at the National Women's Boxing Championship 2018. She also won the Best Boxer award at the 7th Youth Women National Championship in Patiala and in the 14th Senior Women Boxing Competition.

Javokhir Ummataliev is an Uzbekistani amateur boxer, who won a silver medal at the Youth Asian Championships 2022 held in Amman, Jordan. He also won a gold medal at the 2022 IBA Youth Men's & Women's World Boxing Championships held in La Nucia, Spain.
