Transportation in Vietnam is improving rapidly in terms of both quantity and quality. Especially road traffic is growing rapidly but the major roads are dangerous and slow to travel on due to outdated design and an inappropriate traffic mix. In recent years, the construction of expressways has accelerated. Air travel is also important for long distance travel. Metro systems are under construction in the two metropolises of Vietnam, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The Mekong, or Mekong River, is a trans-boundary river in Southeast Asia. It is the world's twelfth longest river and the seventh longest in Asia. Its estimated length is 4,350 km (2,703 mi), and it drains an area of 795,000 km2 (307,000 sq mi), discharging 475 km3 (114 cu mi) of water annually. From the Tibetan Plateau the river runs through China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. The extreme seasonal variations in flow and the presence of rapids and waterfalls in the Mekong make navigation difficult. Even so, the river is a major trade route between western China and Southeast Asia.
Kampot is a province (khaet) of Cambodia. It borders the provinces of Koh Kong and Kampong Speu to the north, Takeo and Kep and Vietnam to the east and Sihanoukville to the west. To its south it has a coastline of around 45 km on the Gulf of Thailand. It is rich in low arable lands and has abundant natural resources. Its capital is Kampot town.
Koh Kong is a province (khaet) of Cambodia. The name means 'Kŏng Island Province'. Its capital is Khemarak Phoumin. The province was called Patchan Khiri Khet Province from 1795 to 1904.
Koh Rong, is the second largest island of Cambodia. The word Rong might refer to an old term for cave or tunnel, although some islanders say Rong refers to a historical person's name. It can also refer to the old Khmer word for shelter, adding up to Shelter Island.
Kampot is a city in southern Cambodia and the capital of Kampot Province. It is on the Praek Tuek Chhu River southeast of the Elephant Mountains and around 5 km (3 mi) from the Gulf of Thailand. Kampot was the capital of the Circonscription Résidentielle de Kampot under French rule and Cambodia's most important seaport after the loss of the Mekong Delta and before the establishment of Sihanoukville. Its center is, unlike most Cambodian provincial capitals, composed of 19th century French colonial architecture. The region and town are known for high quality pepper, which is exported worldwide. It is also known for its Kampot fish sauce, and durian.
Kong Pisei District is a district located in Kampong Speu Province, in central Cambodia.
National Highway 5 or National Road No.5 (10005) is one of the national highways of Cambodia. With a length of 407.45 km (253.18 mi), it connects the capital of Phnom Penh with Thailand. NH5 leaves Phnom Penh in a north to northwest direction, it first borders the Tonle Sap, three bridges the Chroy Changvar, the Prek Kdam and the Prek Pnov link the Est of the country. Then it moves away from the river/lake because the land there is flooded part of the year and it exits Kandal Province and traverses Kampong Chhnang Province from the junction with Road 51, north to Kampong Chhnang City, then northwest to Baribour District where it crosses into Pursat Province. From there, it skirts the Tonle Sap lake and continues west to Pursat town, the provincial capital. Leaving Pursat, NH5 again turns northwest and leads to Battambang Province, passing through another provincial capital at Battambang city and continuing on to Serei Saophoan District in Banteay Meanchey Province where it meets the terminus of NH6 and bends westward towards its own terminus at Poipet on the Thai border.
National Road No. 8 (10008) is one of the national highways of Cambodia. The 90 km (56 mi) road is located in Prey Veng Province of southeastern Cambodia.
Prek Sbauv is a small fishing village alongside the Sen River in north-eastern Cambodia. Except for being the birthplace of Pol Pot, leader of the Khmer Rouge, Prek Sbauv is like any other fisher village of Cambodia. The village, which has no more than 10 houses, is located in Kampong Thom Province. It is on the central plain of the country. The village is located few meters at the north-east of the Tonlé sap.
Cambodia has 612 km (380 mi) of 1,000 mm metre gauge rail network, consisting of two lines originally constructed during the time when the country was part of French Indochina. Due to neglect and damage from civil war during the latter half of the 20th century, the railways were in a dilapidated state and all services had been suspended by 2009. By 2016, freight and limited passenger service was available between Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville.
Sihanoukville Province or Preah Sihanouk Province is a province in southwest Cambodia on the Gulf of Thailand. The provincial capital, also called Sihanoukville, is a deep water port city and a steadily growing and diversifying urban center on an elevated peninsula.

Stung Sen Dam is a proposed multipurpose dam to be located on the Stung Sen River. The river originates in Preah Vihear and flows to the Tonlé Sap Lake in Kompong Thom, southeast of Phnom Rovieng, Cambodia. Under MoU study project and Feasibility Study by Korean company. The large reservoir would submerge Kompong Putrea. Exact data for reservoir size and number of displaced people is not available, nor is any information on the importance of the Stung Sen's flow to the Tonle Sap Lake or fisheries.
The Kunming–Singapore railway, increasingly called the Pan-Asia railway Network is a network of railways, being planned or under construction, that would connect China, Singapore and all the countries of mainland Southeast Asia. The concept originated with British and French imperialists, who sought to link the railways they had built in southwest China, Indochina and Malaya, but international conflicts in the 20th century kept regional railways fragmented. The idea was formally revived in October 2006 when 18 Asian and Eurasian countries signed the Trans-Asian railway Network Agreement, which designates the Kunming–Singapore railway as one of several planned trans-Asian railways.
The Chroy Changva Bridge is a 709-meter bridge that crosses the Tonle Sap River in Phnom Penh, originally built in 1963, with Japanese aid. Severely damaged during the civil war, in 1972 and 1973, it remained closed until it reopened on the 26th of February 1994 About 10 km north of it there is another bridge the Prek Kdam Bridge, then the Prek Pnov Bridge and no more bridges on the Tonle Sap, a temporary bridge should open en April 2018, the construction of a concrete bridge should start just after that.
Koh Thmei, is an island of Cambodia, situated in the Gulf of Thailand, immediately south-east of the Sihanoukville headland. Although clearly inside the protected area of Ream National Park, a number of development companies have obtained long lasting land-lease concessions since 2010. Announced were large-scale plans, including a bridge to the mainland. By August 2014 the island hasn't yet undergone any alterations. In early 2018, development hastened on the island, partly prompted by the launch of the Golden Silver Gulf Tourism Zone project, which encompasses Koh Thmei.
The Cambodian Youth Party (CYP) is a pro-government party created by Pich Sros. It is known for being one of the parties that called for the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) to dissolve after allegedly conspiring to overthrow the current government. The party is also one of the twenty parties involved in the Consultation Forum created by current Prime Minister Hun Sen. During its time as part of the forum, the CYP has also managed to conserve the Boeung Prek Toap lake.
