Priyanka Dutt Chalasani (born 19 December 1984) is an Indian film producer known for her work in Telugu cinema. [2] She is the daughter of C. Ashwini Dutt, a well known Indian film producer and the founder of Vyjayanthi Movies.

Dutt studied filmmaking at University of California, Los Angeles. [2] She made her debut as a filmmaker at the age of 20 by co-producing the film Balu in 2004. [2] She is also the founder of Three Angels Studio and has produced a short film titled Yaadon Ki Baraat, which was screened at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. [3]

Early life

Dutt began her career in the film industry by assisting Bombay-based director and advertisement filmmaker Shoojit Sircar in many of his advertisements for various brands. She moved to Hyderabad to co-produce movies with her father's banner Vyjayanthi Movies. She co-produced three films: Balu (2005), Jai Chiranjeeva (2005), and Shakti (2011). [3]

Three Angels Studio

Dutt launched her own production house, Three Angels Studio [4] in the year 2009 to encourage New age cinema. The studio produced its first film Baanam (2009) which explores the story of an IPS officer who is the son of a Naxalite. The film was critically acclaimed [5] for the way it dealt with the issue. The film won Priyanka the Silver Nandi Award in the best film category in 2009. [6] She also produced corporate films for premium clients in India under Three Angels Studio. [3]

Personal life

In December 2015, Dutt married Nag Ashwin, the director of the films Yevade Subramanyam and Mahanati , which she had produced. The couple has a son.

Balu: ABCDEFG is a 2005 Indian Telugu-language crime action film written and directed by A. Karunakaran. This film stars Pawan Kalyan, Shriya, debutante Neha Oberoi and Gulshan Grover. The film was produced by C. Ashwini Dutt under his production company Vyjayanthi Movies. It's tag-line ABCDEFG stands for "A Boy Can Do Everything For a Girl." The film released on 6 January 2005 to mixed reviews and was an above average grosser at the box office. The movie was remade twice in Bengali Bangladesh as Dhakar King (2012) and Premik Number One (2013) with Shakib Khan.

The plot follows Subramanyam (Nani), a corporate man who sets out on a journey of self-discovery. Eduruleni Manishi is a 1975 Telugu-language action film directed by K. Bapayya. It stars N. T. Rama Rao and Vanisri, with music composed by K. V. Mahadevan. This film is the debut of Aswini Dutt's Vyjayanthi Movies banner in the film industry. It is a remake of the Hindi film Johny Mera Naam (1970). The film's title was later used as the title of Rama Rao's memoir, by his wife Lakshmi Parvathi.
