"Prom" is the eighth episode of the second season of the Canadian reality competition television series Canada's Drag Race , which aired on December 3, 2021 on the television network Crave. [1] [2] [3] The episode sees contestants giving drag makeovers to LGBTQ+ teens, with the help of the It Gets Better Project, for queer prom. [4] [5]
Singer and actress Mitsou is the guest judge who is joined by regular panelists Brooke Lynn Hytes and Brad Goreski and alternating judge Traci Melchor. [3]
Each member of the top five queens receives a video message from a loved one. [2] For the maxi challenge the queens must makeover five LGBTQ+ teenagers into their drag daughters to escort them to queer prom, and on the runway they must serve cool mom and prom queen. [3] [4]
On the runway regular panelists Brooke Lynn Hytes and Brad Goreski and alternating judge Traci Melchor are joined by Mitsou as the guest judge. Pythia wins the challenge, winning a $2,500 beauty card and $5,000 donated to It Gets Better Canada courtesy of Shoppers Drug Mart. Gia Metric and Kendall Gender are safe. Adriana and Icesis Couture are up for elimination and lip sync to "Everybody Say Love" by Mitsou. Icesis Couture wins the lip sync and Adriana is eliminated. [2] [3]
Icesis Couture's makeover Ruby Couture, now known as Makayla Couture, continued to perform in drag following her appearance on the episode. [5] In 2024 she was announced as a contestant on Canada's Drag Race season 5 where she placed as runner-up. [6] [7]
