Proper Filthy Naughty is a musical production duo consisting of John Ross and Joe Williams, who have also worked under the names Salamander and The Light. They have had releases on Platipus Records, FFRR, and Hooj Choons. Their single "Expand the Room" (done as The Light) was featured on several compilations such as Sasha & John Digweed's Northern Exposure: Expeditions . In the 2000s, they changed their name to Proper Filthy Naughty and have since released several singles on 10 Kilo.

Williams first came to public attention as JX in 1994 following a recording contract with Hooj Choons, a United Kingdom dance independent record label. "There's Nothing I Won't Do" is the third single released by British electronic producer Jake Williams under the name JX. It was released in May 1996 as a single by Ffrreedom and Hooj Choons. The song reached number four in the United Kingdom, where it is JX's highest-charting. It also reached number 26 in Australia and number 14 in Ireland. The song's music video was directed by Alex Hemming.
Hooj Choons is a house record label formed by Alex Simons and Red Jerry in 1990. The first release was "Carnival de Casa" by Rio Rhythm Band, however, it was not until 1992's release of Felix's "Don't You Want Me", which Red Jerry and Faithless founder-member Rollo co-produced, that Hooj Choons had their first crossover hit. Over the next ten years, Hooj Choons had several notable releases including productions from artists such as Diss-Cuss, Tilt, Oliver Lieb and JX. The label built up a roster of popular club hits and smaller underground classics over 20 years.
