Hancock County is a county located in the U.S. state of Maine. As of the 2010 census, the population was 54,418. Its county seat is Ellsworth. The county was incorporated on June 25, 1789 and named for John Hancock, the first governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Commissioners are Antonio Blasi, Steven Joy and Percy Brown.
Sullivan is a town in Hancock County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,236 at the 2010 census. The town was named for Daniel Sullivan, an early settler. Colloquially referred to as "Sully" or "the Sullivans" – like many Maine municipalities composed of villages with geographic designations of the town proper – the municipality was incorporated in 1789. Located in the Upper Schoodic Peninsula sub-region of Maine's Downeast Acadia region, the municipality has been known as as "Waukeag", "New Bristol", and later Sullivan; and once included the nearby communities of Hancock, Sorrento, and what would later be Township 7, South & Middle Districts. Once home to abundant granite quarries, the town of Sullivan is now a residential community for nearby Ellsworth and Mount Desert Island. Located along U.S. Route 1, the Taunton River, and Hog Bay, Sullivan is home to a reversing tidal falls and many scenic turnouts that dot the Schoodic National Scenic Byway along the Upper Schoodic Peninsula.

The Schoodic Peninsula is a peninsula in Down East Maine. It is located four miles (6 km) east of Bar Harbor, Maine, as the crow flies. The Schoodic Peninsula contains 2,266 acres (9 km2), or approximately 5% of Acadia National Park. It includes the towns of Gouldsboro and Winter Harbor. The peninsula has a rocky granite shoreline containing many volcanic dikes. The peninsula is home to the former United States Navy base, NGSA Winter Harbor, which has been converted into a National Park Service training center. A 3,300-acre (13 km2) resort development was proposed for land abutting Schoodic Peninsula's national park holdings to the north. An anonymous donor eventually bought the entire 3,200 acre tract and built the Schoodic Woods Campground and miles of gravel bike paths before donating all of it to Acadia National Park. Opening in 2015, Schoodic Woods is the newest campground in Acadia National Park, and the first built in the park since the original campgrounds were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression beginning in 1936. In the summer, the Schoodic peninsula is currently served by two separate ferry services from Bar Harbor to Winter Harbor that run daily.
Bar Island is a tidal island across from Bar Harbor on Mount Desert Island, Maine, United States. The uninhabited island forested is mostly in pine and birch trees and the island is now part of Acadia National Park. There are walking trails on the island.

Great Wass Island lies in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of the State of Maine, United States. On the mainland is Jonesport in Washington County. The island is 5 mi (8 km) long, 1.5 mi (2.5 km) wide and it is the biggest island in the Great Wass Archipelago, which contains over 43 islands extending off the coast from Jonesport. Great Wass Island is connected with a bridge to Beals Island, which is then connected to the mainland. Head Harbor Island and Steels Harbor Island lie close to the east. The 1,450-acre (5.9 km2) Great Wass Island Preserve is in the island. The interior of Great Wass Island supports coastal Maine's largest stand of jack pine, other typical plants are bakeapple, deer-hair sedge, and dragon’s mouth orchid. The island is part of the Town of Beals, in Washington County.
The North Branch Birch River is a 9.6-mile-long (15.4 km) river in Aroostook County, Maine, in the United States. From the outlet of a small pond in Maine Township 16, Range 8, WELS, it runs about 6 miles (10 km) east and about 3 miles (5 km) south to its confluence with the South Branch in the town of Eagle Lake to form the Birch River. It is part of the Fish River watershed, draining north to the Saint John River and ultimately southeast to the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick, Canada.
The South Branch Marsh River is a 3.0-mile-long (4.8 km) tidal river in the towns of Prospect and Frankfort in Waldo County, Maine. It joins the North Branch Marsh River to form Marsh Bay, a short arm of the tidal Penobscot River.

Morgan Bay, Union River Bay, and Western Bay empty into it. Long Island in the north of the bay is the largest uninhabited island in Maine.

The West Gouldsboro Village Library is a historic former library building in Gouldsboro, Maine. Located in West Gouldsboro, this building, designed by Fred L. Savage and built in 1907, is one of the only libraries in Maine built in the Tudor Revival style. It served as a library from 1907 to 1956, and again for a period beginning in 1990. The town's library services are currently provided by the Dorcas Library in Prospect Harbor. This building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
