Punjab House, formerly known as Circuit House, is a mansion and resort building in Murree, Rawalpindi-Islamabad, Pakistan. It has been used by the Government of Punjab, Pakistan, Government of Pakistan for Chief Minister's annexe, for government official meetings, as banquet, and as a state guest house. [2] [3]

History

Punjab House was founded in 1937 as Circuit House. [4] It was further developed when Manzoor Wattoo was Chief Minister of Punjab, Pakistan. [2]

In 2003, it was renamed as Punjab House. [4]

In 2019, it was announced that Punjab House Murree would be converted into a university. [5]

Building

Punjab House has three floors. The top floor is the VVIP floor with master bedroom and suite, the second floor has four executive suites, and the ground floor has a reception hall, two bedrooms and a large waiting lounge. [2]

It has six executive suites overall and a VVIP floor with a master bedroom and suite spread over 10,000 sq ft (930 m2). The master suite has drawing room, walk-in closet, luxury bathroom, balcony and a big kitchen. [2] The foyer of the annexe has most expensive chandelier and the furniture has been provided by top designers in Pakistan. [2] It is centrally air conditioned. [2] It has approximately 100 employees. [2]

The first 100 days of Imran Khan's prime ministership began with his swearing-in ceremony on 18 August 2018 as the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan – shortly after the oath-taking of the 15th National Assembly of Pakistan on 13 August, and the elected parliament's vote of confidence for Khan's premiership on 17 August. The 100th day of his prime ministership was 25 November 2018.

On 7 January 2022, a snowstorm occurred in Murree, Murree District, in the Punjab province of Pakistan, dropping more than 4 feet (1.2 m) of snow, killing 23 domestic tourists who had visited to see the snowfall. Many died as temperatures fell to around negative 8 degrees Celsius.
