Punto y Hora de Euskal Herria was a weekly Basque Country periodical.

The periodical was established in Pamplona, under the direction of Mirentxu Purroy Ferrer, and the first issue was published in April 1976.[ citation needed ] The newspaper operated from 1976 to 1990. [1] [ additional citation(s) needed ]

One of its collaborators was the linguist José María Sánchez Carrión.

In January 1979 it was closed. In April of that year they began a new phase under a new director, Javier Sánchez Erauskin, and based in San Sebastian.

In November 1981, its then-editor Javier Sanchez Erauskin was sentenced for insulting the Spanish King Juan Carlos I to six months and one day imprisonment. [2]

Far-right terrorism in Spain surged after the death of dictator Francisco Franco in 1975 and continued until the early 1980s. The term refers to the actions undertaken by fascist and far-right groups who were against the changes taking place during the transition to democracy, and essentially dedicated to street violence against persons of other ideologies.

The Alianza Apostólica Anticomunista was a Spanish far-right paramilitary organisation active from 1976 to 1983, primarily in the southern Basque Country but also in the French Basque Country and Barcelona. A June 2010 report by the Office for Victims of Terrorism of the Basque Government attributed eight murders with 66 deathly victims to the group and linked it to the National Police Corps, SECED and the Civil Guard. The group attacked the satirical magazine El Papus in Barcelona, killing one person and injuring 17.

In the Spanish public discourse the territory traditionally inhabited by the Basques was assigned a variety of names across the centuries. Terms used might have been almost identical, with hardly noticeable difference in content and connotation, or they could have varied enormously, also when consciously used one against another. The names used demonstrate changing perceptions of the area and until today the nomenclature employed could be battleground between partisans of different options.

Hora punta was a Spanish television talk show focused on contemporary issues and presented with a generally humorous tone. First broadcast on October 10, 2016, it aired Monday through Thursday during prime time on channel La 1 of Televisión Española. The show was cancelled in July 2018, amid concerns about sexism in its tone, and the quality of information presented.
