Cricket has a considerably lower profile in Scotland than it has in neighbouring England. Scotland is not one of the twelve leading cricketing nations which play Test matches,but the Scottish national team is now allowed to play full One Day Internationals even outside the Cricket World Cup,in which Scotland competed in 1999,2007,and 2015. Scotland has a well established recreational cricket structure. In 2016 it was estimated that around 17,000 people play cricket in Scotland. At international level,Scotland is ranked as one of the highest 'associate' teams,and has historic rivalries both with its neighbouring full members England and Ireland,and fellow high ranked associate,Netherlands.
The United Arab Emirates men's national cricket team is the team that represents the United Arab Emirates in international cricket. They are governed by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) which became an Affiliate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1989 and an Associate Member the following year. Since 2005,the ICC's headquarters have been located in Dubai.

The Afghanistan men's national cricket team represents Afghanistan in international cricket. Cricket has been played in Afghanistan since the mid-19th century,but it was only in the early 21st century that the national team began to enjoy success. The Afghanistan Cricket Board was formed in 1995,becoming an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2001 and a member of the cricket confederation,Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in 2003. After nearly a decade of playing international cricket,on 22 June 2017 full ICC membership was granted to Afghanistan. Alongside Ireland,this took the number of Test cricket playing nations to twelve. Afghanistan is the first country to achieve Full Member status after holding Affiliate Membership of the ICC. In view of the persistent conflict and insecurity in Afghanistan,following this status,the team moved to a new home ground in Dehradun,in India. The current home ground of the Afghanistan Men's Cricket team is the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE.
Ian James Gould is an English former first-class cricketer and a former member of the ICC Elite Panel of cricket umpires. He previously also served as the chairman of English football club Burnham FC. In April 2019,Gould announced that he would retire as an umpire following the 2019 Cricket World Cup. On 6 July 2019,Gould retired from umpiring,after officiating in the World Cup match between India and Sri Lanka. However,he has since umpired in matches in the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
The Sharjah Cricket Stadium is in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. It holds the record for being the venue that hosted the highest number of international matches,294 matches,up to March 17 2024. It was originally constructed in the early 1980s and has been much improved over the years. The stadium hosted its first international matches in April 1984,in the Asia Cup.
William Thomas Stuart Porterfield is an Irish former cricketer and a former captain of the Ireland cricket team. He played first-class cricket for Gloucestershire and Warwickshire. A left-handed batsman,he played for Ireland from 2006 to 2022,and has captained Ireland at all levels from Under-13 and is considered one of the greatest Irish cricketers of all time. During Afghanistan T20I series in March 2017,he passed 1,000 runs in T20Is and became the first player from Ireland to do so. In May 2018,he was named as the captain of Ireland's squad for their first ever Test match,against Pakistan. He announced his retirement from international cricket on 16 June 2022.
Pieter Marinus Seelaar is a Dutch cricketer and a former captain of the national team. He is a right-handed batsman and a left-arm orthodox spin bowler. Having played for the Netherlands at the Under-15,Under-17 and Under-19 levels,he made his senior debut in a C&G Trophy game against Warwickshire on 3 May 2005. He then played in the ICC Trophy later that year. He made his One Day International debut against Sri Lanka on 6 July 2006. Two years later,Seelaar made his Twenty20 International debut.
Kyle James Coetzer is a Scottish former cricketer who has captained the Scottish youth national sides in international formats. He captained at under-15,under-17 and under-19 levels including skippering in the 2004 U-19 Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh.
Omer Hussain is a Scottish cricket player of Pakistani descent. He made his debut for the Scottish cricket team on 18 September 2005 in a C&G Trophy match against Warwickshire. He has played seven times in all for Scotland,including two One Day Internationals. He has also represented his country at Under 15,Under 17,Under 19 and Under 23 level and at international levels. Omer Hussain is a left-handed batsman and is cousin of fellow Scottish international cricketer Majid Haq. Both Omer and Majid have played for Kelburne Cricket Club,Ferguslie Cricket Club and Omer currently plays for Kelburne Cricket Club
Calum Scott MacLeod is a Scottish professional cricketer. He has represented the Scotland national team since 2008,including at the 2015 World Cup and the 2016 World Twenty20. He has played county cricket in England for Warwickshire and Durham. In January 2019,MacLeod was named the ICC Associate Player of the Year at the 2018 ICC Awards.
Titwood is a cricket ground in the Pollokshields area of Glasgow,Scotland. It is the home of the Clydesdale Cricket Club and is one of four international grounds in Scotland approved by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as a home venue for the Scotland national cricket team.
Paul Robert Stirling is an Irish cricketer. Stirling is the opening batsman for the Ireland cricket team and an occasional right-arm,off-break bowler. He is one of the top 10 run scorers in T20 internationals. He was one of the eleven cricketers to play in Ireland's first ever Test match,against Pakistan,in May 2018. He was appointed as the vice-captain of the Ireland team in June 2020. He subsequently served as interim captain of Ireland in the T20I and ODI format following the resignation of Andrew Balbirnie,before being appointed as permanent limited-overs captain in October 2023.
Hasti Gul Abid is an Afghan cricketer who has played for the Afghanistan national cricket team. Gul is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm medium pace.

Shaiman Anwar Butt is a former cricketer who played for the United Arab Emirates national cricket team. A powerful right-handed top-order batsman,he made his debut for the United Arab Emirates national side in December 2010,having previously represented Sialkot and Servis Industries in Pakistani domestic tournaments. In March 2021,Shaiman was found guilty of corruption and banned from all cricket for eight years.
Rohan Mustafa is a Pakistani-born cricketer who has played for the United Arab Emirates national cricket team since 2007. He is a former national captain,and plays as a left-handed batsman and right-arm off-spin bowler.
Aarif Sheikh is a Nepalese cricketer,who has been a former vice-captain of the Nepal under-19 cricket team,and currently plays for the senior team. An all-rounder,Aarif is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium pace bowler. He made his debut against Hong Kong in May 2014.
Hamza Tahir is a Scottish cricketer. He made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut for Scotland against Pakistan on 12 June 2018. He made his List A debut for Scotland against Oman on 20 February 2019,following the 2018–19 Oman Quadrangular Series. He was born in Paisley to Pakistani parents.
