Qorahsin (Somali : Qoraxsin) It is the land west of the Shebelle River, the name Qoraxsin means West or Galbeed in Somali, this Land is suitable for grazing and farming. Qorahsin has significant cultural and historical importance due to the presence and interactions of various Somali clans. It has been a site of historical settlements and migrations, often involving conflicts and alliances among different clan families. The Gaalje'el and Gugundhabe clans, including their subclans such as the Jijeele and Baadicadde, are notably prominent in this region. These clans have shaped the socio-political landscape of Qorahsin through their historical presence and influence over the area.

The region's importance stems not only from its agricultural productivity but also from its strategic location, which has historically been central to the movements and settlements of various Somali clans. Ahmed Abdi Mohamud Sugulle "Habsade" is a Puntland and Somaliland politician. He was a decorated Colonel in the Somali Armed Forces and the second in command of the Somali Custodial Corps equivalent to that of the Italian Arma dei Carabinieri but the Custodial Corps fall under the Ministry of the Interior and are part of the Police Force. A politician and respected elder later in life (he was instrumental in the founding of Somaliland and became the Speaker of the Somaliland House of Representatives. In 1998, he was appointed Minister of the Interior of Puntland but was dismissed in 2007 after a conflict with Mohamud Muse Hersi, who became President of Puntland in 2006. In 2007, he brought Somaliland troops into Las Anod, leading to Somaliland's effective control of the Sool region. He served as various Somaliland Ministers of state from 2008. In 2014, Abdiweli Gaas became President of Puntland and he come back to Puntland.

Hassan Dahir Afqurac is a Somali politician who was the Vice President of Puntland from January 2005 to January 2009. later died due to Liver disease in Nairobi.


Guumays (Guumeys) is a village in the Sool region currently under the control of Khatumo State forces.

Ceelbaraf (Elbaraf) is a town and district in the Middle Shabelle, Somalia. It is a transportation hub at the junction of roads and had been effectively controlled by the Islamic militant group Al-Shabaab since 2009 and by the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) since 2016.
