Quentin Chong

Quentin "Dragon" Chong is a retired South African professional Muaythai (Muay Thai) martial artist, a trainer/coach [1] and actor who has appeared in a number of American movies, [2] local TV series, advertisements and magazines.

Background

Quentin Chong, nicknamed “the Dragon”, was born in 1972, in Gaborone, Botswana. He is the youngest of three siblings. He grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, where he still resides. As a child, aged 5, he trained in Chinese Kung Fu in Hong Kong. On a later visit to Thailand in the early 1990s he started training in Muaythai (also known as Muay Thai), a well-known combat sport of Thailand, under Manop Maswichean, who is a World Champion in the heavy weight category of this sport.

Professional career

In 2001 he was challenged to a World Muaythai title fight in the super middle weight category, in Chumphon, Thailand, against Saroonsak. He won the World Champion Title and successfully defended it in 2002 in Cape Town, South Africa, against Nokweit Davies (Nokweed Devy), also a world champion in the super-middle weight category. He has won 18 of 19 professional fights. His fight in 2002, against Davies, was his last professional fight.

His current involvement in the sport is in capacity of president, coach and manager of the South African Amateur Muaythai Foundation. He currently serves on the Executive Board of the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur [3]

Other

Quentin has appeared in various international television series and films such as Wake of Death, Death Race 2 and Number One Girl(2005) and featured alongside actors such as Jean-Claude Van Damme, Pat Morita and Vinnie Jones. He had surgery to replace thinning hair after which he appeared in a number of South African newspapers, magazines, [4] television adverts and shows such as Top Billing, the South African television series "Way of the Warrior" [5] and the international television series "Strikeback" . He has trained other well-known international martial arts fighters such as Randy Courture and currently focuses on training fighters at his own gym called Dragon Power Muaythai, MMA and Fitness Centre , based in Cape Town.

His philanthropic efforts includes involvement with the Amy Biehl Foundation Trust [6] and also with his own registered non-profit organisation called the South African Muaythai Against Drugs Association, which involves martial arts training, African drumming and cultural dancing for children from disadvantaged backgrounds from the townships around Cape Town.

Thohsaphol Sitiwatjana is a Thai-American martial artist and Muay Thai instructor. He is known as Master Toddy because after moving to the UK, people were unable to pronounce his name correctly. Thosophon has been a Muay Thai instructor since the age of 16 and has trained over 40 world champions over 5 decades. He has also featured in several movies and produced his own TV Shows.

Pamorn Martdee

Pamorn Martdee also known as Pamorn Luuk Hill-Martdee is a former Thai of Australian descent muay Thai kickboxer, promoter of Origins Fight Promotions and the founder and director of Champions Gym in Perth. He is also the chairman of WBC Muaythai in Australia. Martdee was born in Subiaco, Western Australia. He was the WPMF welterweight Australian champion at age 17 and was ranked the number one contender in Australia to win the WBC Muay Thai national title in 2007.

Fabio Pinca is a French-Italian Muay Thai kickboxer and mixed martial artist. Pinca is currently signed to ONE Championship. In 2010, Pinca became the first winner of the annual Thai Fight tournament.

International Federation of Muaythai Associations

The International Federation of Muaythai Associations, or IFMA, called the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur until 27 July 2019, is the sole recognised sport governing body of amateur and professional Muay Thai and Muay boran consisting of 130 member countries worldwide with 5 continental federations after unification of International Federation of Muaythai Amateur and World Muaythai Council. IFMA is officially recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF), the Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations (ARISF), the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) International World Games Association (IWGA), and Trim and Fitness International Sport for All Association (TAFISA). Muaythai has been included in many official sport programs such as the World Games, World Combat Games, Arafura Games, TAFISA Games, SEA Games, Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, Asian Beach Games, Demonstration Sport in the Asian Games.

Ky Hollenbeck American kickboxer

Ky Conrad Hollenbeck is an American Muay Thai kickboxer who competes in the middleweight division. He won national and North American titles as an amateur in his teens before turning professional in 2007 and beating Billy Evangelista for the California state belt. He soon began competing internationally and rose to prominence when he took a decision victory over Steve Moxon in the final of a four-man tournament in 2010. The following year, Hollenbeck outpointed Gregory Choplin for the WBC Muaythai Interim World Middleweight Championship and then debuted in the Glory promotion in May 2012.

Chike George Lindsay-Ajudua is an American Muay Thai kickboxer who competes in the Middleweight division. Lindsay is the former WKA North American Champion, WBC Muaythai International Champion, and IMTO World Super Welterweight Champion.

Jarred Rothwell

Jarred Craig Rothwell is a South African Muay Thai boxer. He is a five time South African Muay Thai champion in four weight divisions, a bronze medalist at the 2011 IFMA World Championships and a silver medalist at the 2011 Arafura Games. He won the World Muaythai Council (WMC) MAD World Title Belt in 2012, and the South African Muaythai Association Middle Weight Professional Champion in 2013. Jarred qualified for the 2013 World Combat Games, competing in the 71kg division.

Oléna "Lena" Serhíyivna Ovchýnnikova is a Ukrainian kickboxer and mixed martial artist who competes in the featherweight division in kickboxing and the flyweight division in MMA.

Superbon Banchamek is a Thai Muay Thai kickboxer fighting out of Bangkok. Superbon is currently ranked number one on the WBC world super-welterweight rankings. He is the former Professional Association of Thailand Muay Thai champion. As of 1 August 2020, he is ranked the #3 lightweight kickboxer in the world by Combat Press.

Masoud "The Silent Assassin" Minaei is an Iranian kickboxer, fighting out of Sam & Rad gym. He has competed in the Glory, Kunlun Fight and King of Kings promotions. He is 2019 WKU European champion.

Savvas Michael is a Cypriot Muay Thai fighter. He is the current WBC Muaythai World Lightweight champion.

Suphisara Konlak, best known professionally as Loma Lookboonmee, is a Thai martial artist who has competed in Muay Thai, boxing, kickboxing, and mixed martial arts. Amy Pirnie is a Scottish Nak Muay and kickboxer, who has most recently competed with Yokkao and Enfusion. She is the reigning Enfusion 52 kg Champion, the reigning Lion Fight super-flyweight champion, and the reigning ISKA strawweight world champion.

Sasha Moisa is a Ukrainian Muay Thai and Lethwei fighter currently signed to ONE Championship and World Lethwei Championship. He is the reigning WLC Light Middleweight World Champion. Moisa is also a former WMC World Super Welterweight Champion.

Bernise Alldis is an English kickboxer and mixed martial artist who has been professionally competing since 2003.
