R. B. Lakshmi Devi (born February 2, 1917) is a South Indian theater and film actress. She played the lead role in Srinivasa Kalyanam , the first Tamil film produced in Chennai.

Biography

Devi was born into a wealthy family in North Chennai. [1]

Devi made her film debut with director C. V. Ramana. [2] Her brother, A. Narayanan, made his debut in a talking film Srinivasa Kalyanam (1934). [2] She later appeared as a stunt actress in several Tamil films produced in Bombay. [2]

In the early 1950s, Devi settled at 70 Lloyds Road, Chennai. She was the first to settle in Lloyd's Road, where many celebrities of the Tamil film industry lived. [1] She later shifted to Gopalapuram Ganapathi Colony near Lloyds Road. [1]

Madurai Narasimha Achary Rajam or M. N. Rajam is an Indian actress, who works mainly in Tamil cinema. She made her stage acting debut at the age of seven, and movie acting debut as a child artist in 1949. At the age of 14, Rajam played the vamp role in the Tamil classic Ratha Kanneer (1954), opposite M. R. Radha. Since then Rajam had acted with several leading actors including MGR, Sivaji Ganesan, Gemini Ganesan, M. R. Radha, S.S. Rajendran, M. N. Nambiar and N. S. Krishnan. She married popular Tamil playback singer A. L. Raghavan on 2 May 1960. Her performances in films like, Rathak Kaneer, Pennin Perumai, Pudhayal, Thanga Padumai, "Nadodi Mannan", "Pasa Malar", Thaali Bhagyam and "Arangetram" were critically acclaimed. O Kadhal Kanmani is the soundtrack album, composed by A. R. Rahman, to the 2015 Indian Tamil film of the same name written and directed by Mani Ratnam. The soundtrack album consists of nine tracks each in original Tamil and Telugu version of the albums with one track "Maula Wa Sallim" being common to both. Majority of the tracks for the original version were penned by Vairamuthu. The lyrics to the Telugu version were written by Sirivennela Sitaramasastri.The lyrics to its Hindi version songs in its Hindi remake OK Jaanu is by Gulzar The songs are fusion of contemporary music with carnatic music as well as pure classical Indian music based songs in the genres—carnatic and Hindustani. The original score was produced by ensemble Qutb-e-Kripa along with Rahman. The score utilises the songs and re-performed carnatic compositions of musicians Tyagaraja and Annamacharya.
