Erode District is one of the 38 districts in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It was the largest district by area in the state before the formation of Tirupur district in 2009 and is the third largest by area,as of 2024. The headquarters of the district is Erode. The district is divided into two revenue divisions,Erode and Gobichettipalayam,and is further subdivided into 10 taluks.
Sathyamangalam is a town and municipality in Erode district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It lies on the banks of the Bhavani river,a tributary of the Cauvery in the foothills of the Western Ghats and is the headquarters of Sathyamangalam taluk. K C Palanisamy is an Indian politician,former Member of Parliament (MP) and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Tamil Nadu (TN). A former member of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK),he served the Dravidian party founded by former Chief Minister (CM) of Tamil Nadu,M G Ramachandran (MGR) on 17 October 1972. He was born and raised in Chennimalai,Erode District of Tamil Nadu. At the age of 9,K C Palanisamy met MGR and got influenced by the mission and vision of AIADMK. His political career began aged 13. In 1972,he joined AIADMK as a party member. K C Palanisamy was handpicked by former CM of Tamil Nadu,MGR as Deputy District Secretary of AIADMK’s Youth Wing in 1982,at the age of 23. In 1984,he was elected as the party’s youngest Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Kangeyam constituency in Thiruppur District. In 1989,K C Palanisamy chosen to contest in Assembly election as Member of Parliament (MP) by Jayalalitha and won with the second highest vote difference Nationally and highest difference in the State.
Erode Venkata Krishnasamy Sampath Elangovan is an Indian politician who is a current member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly,representing the Erode East Assembly constituency. He previously represented the Gobichettipalayam Lok Sabha constituency of Tamil Nadu and was the Textiles Minister for the Union Government between 2004 and 2009,in Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh Government. He is a member of the Indian National Congress party.
Erode Venkatappa Krishnasamy Sampath,usually referred to as E. V. K. Sampath was a prominent politician from Tamil Nadu,India. He was an advocate of the Dravidian Movement of Periyar E. V. Ramasamy and was considered by some as his political heir. He later split from Periyar's Dravidar Kazhagam to form Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) along with C. N. Annadurai. Pongalur N. Palanisamy is a politician from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. He is former minister for rural industries and animal husbandry in the Government of Tamil Nadu and a member of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party. He was born in Erode district on 3 August 1948.

He served as Transport Minister in MGR cabinet and as health minister in Jayalalitha cabinet formed after 1991 election.
K. A. Sengottaiyan is an Indian politician. He is the former Minister for School Education in the Government of Tamil Nadu. He also served as the party presidium chairman and headquarters secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. He is currently the longest serving ADMK MLA along with his opposition counterpart Duraimurugan.
V. P. Kalairajan is an Indian politician and was a member of the 13th and 14th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assemblies from the Theagaraya Nagar constituency in Chennai district. He represented the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party. Now,he is a member of DMK.

Gingee K. S. Masthan is an Indian politician and one of the Ministers of Tamil Nadu from May 2021. He has been elected as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) in 2016 on behalf of DMK in the Gingee assembly constituency which is a part of the Villupuram district. He was re-elected to the same legislative assembly in the 2021 Tamil Nadu assembly election. Following this,on 7 May 2021,he was appointed a Minister of Minorities Welfare,Wakf Board,and Non Resident Tamil Welfare,Refugees &Evacuees. Non Resident Tamil Welfare,Refugees &Evacuees is an initiative by the M.K. Stalin Cabinet Ministry. KS Masthan is also the District Secretary of Vilupuram North with DMK.
