HMS Celerol (also known as RFA Celerol), was a Belgol-class tanker of the British Royal Navy. It was built by the Short Brothers, and was one of the ten of the Bengol-class ships. It could hold 2,000 tons of fuel, and supported ships in Rosyth from 1921. Eventually, it was scrapped in Bo'ness on 17th July, 1958. [1]

Design and construction

Five of the ships were named after Allied countries, while the other five were given names indicating power or speed, and all of the ships ending with -ol. Three of those ships (Francol, Montenol and Serboll), had upright funnels with a single tall mast close by, while the others had a raking funnel and two raking masts. During World War II the mainmast was removed from the ships. [1]
