Sanctuary is an American heavy metal band, formed in 1985 in Seattle, Washington. They were broken up from 1992 to 2010. The band consists of Lenny Rutledge (guitar), Joseph Michael (vocals), George Hernandez (bass), and Dave Budbill (drums). The lead vocalist position was held by Warrel Dane until his death in 2017. They have released four studio albums and one live EP.

The Sword is an American heavy metal band from Austin, Texas. Formed in 2003, the band was composed of vocalist and guitarist John D. Chelsea Grin is the debut EP by American deathcore band Chelsea Grin, released in 2008. It was initially released as downloadable content through iTunes and was later made available as a CD. It assisted in popularizing the band and is their only release through Statik Factory Records before switching to Artery Recordings the following year of its release. The songs "Cheyne Stokes" and "Recreant" were re-recorded for their debut full-length album, which was released in February 2010. This is their only recording as 5 piece before they switched to their signature 6 piece lineup by adding a third guitarist, which would last until 2018.

For the Fallen Dreams is an American metalcore band from Lansing, Michigan, formed in 2003. The band originally signed to Rise Records but produced one album under Artery Recordings in 2012. After the departure of then vocalist Dylan Richter and the return of vocalist Chad Ruhlig in 2013, the band started producing music under Rise Records once again until 2022.

The album was produced by Andy Sneap, who mixed and engineered the band's previous three studio releases, The Gathering (1999), First Strike Still Deadly (2001), and The Formation of Damnation (2008). The album artwork was created by Eliran Kantor. A music video was made for the track "Native Blood". Dark Roots of Earth entered the Billboard 200 at number 12, Testament's highest position ever.
