The Research Triangle, or simply The Triangle, are both common nicknames for a metropolitan area in the Piedmont region of North Carolina in the United States, anchored by three major research universities: North Carolina State University, Duke University, and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, located in the cities of Raleigh and Durham and the town of Chapel Hill, respectively. University of North Bengal is a public state collegiate major research university in Northern Part of West Bengal, which was located in Raja Rammohanpur, Siliguri, Darjeeling district, in the Indian state of West Bengal. Assam University is a collegiate central public university located at Silchar, Assam, India. It was founded in the year 1994 by the provisions of an act enacted by the Parliament of India. The Governor of Assam is the Chief Rector and the President of India is acting as the Visitor of the University. The Chancellor is the ceremonial head of the university while the executive powers rest with the Vice-chancellor. Rajiv Gandhi University

Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) is the oldest university in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. It is located at Rono Hills in Doimukh town, about nine miles from the state capital, Itanagar. The foundation stone for the university was laid in 1984 by then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The university was renamed as Rajiv Gandhi University in 2005 when UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi was on a visit to the state.

The Regional Institute of Science & Technology (RIST) was established in 2009 by the Erd Foundation. It is a technical college in the north eastern region of India. The college and courses are recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to The North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya. The Regional Institute of Science & Technology was set up to cater to the needs for technical manpower in the north eastern region of the country.

North East Adventist University is a Seventh-day Adventist institution of higher learning near Jowai, India. The Higher Secondary is affiliated to Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE). It is a part of the Seventh-day Adventist education system, the world's second largest Christian school system. This institution was affiliated to the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) from 1999 till 2019. It was upgraded to University on 29 April 2019 under the Northeast Adventist University Act, 2015.
