Raj Kishore Mahato was an Indian politician and member of the All Jharkhand Students Union. Mahato was a member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly from 2014 to 2019 from the Tundi constituency in Dhanbad district. [1] [2] [3]

Early life

Raj Kishore Mahato was born on 23 September 1946 to Binod Bihari Mahato and Fulmani Devi. He did his engineering degree from Indian School of Mining, Dhanbad. [4]

Career

Raj Kishore Mahato was government advocate in Patna High court from 1990 to 1991. Due to untimely death of his father, he became member of parliament from Giridih after winning election. He was president of Jharkhand ciliary sramik union from 1993. He was general secretary of Samta Party from 1998. He was president of Akhil Bharatiya Rail Yatri Sammiti. He was elected to state legislative assembly from Tundi in 2014 in the ticket of Ajsu. [5]

He died on the 3 December 2020 from COVID-19, at the age of 75. [6]

JMM is also an influential political party in the state of Odisha and parts of neighbouring of states. Its election symbol for Jharkhand is Bow and Arrow.

Dadai Dubey is a member of the Indian National Congress political party. Chandrashekhar Dubey was also member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He represented the Dhanbad constituency of Jharkhand. Chandrashekhar Dubey was made the state rural development minister in Jharkhand in Hemant Soren government in August 2013. Dubey was also the general secretary of Rashtiya Koyla Mazdoor Sangh affiliated to INTUC. Chandrashekhar Dubey was also a senate member of Nilamber Pitamber University, nominated by Hon'ble Speaker of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. In July 2015, Dadai Dubey was arrested for misbehaving with the police and was sent to judicial custody.

Ram Narayan Sharma /Ram Narain Sharma was a freedom fighter from Dhanbad district, Jharkhand. His father’s name was Lt. Chandramauli Sharma and his wife's name was Bhagmati Devi. He was born in Sarain-bux village, post office Garkha, district Saran, Bihar. He was born on 31 August 1915. After the death of his first wife, he married Sundar Pati Devi. He came to Dhanbad in 1938. He has sons namely Narendra Kumar Sharma, Ravindra Kumar Sharma, Devendra Sharma, and Jitendra Sharma, and daughters namely, Lt. Sushila Thakur, Urmila Sharma, and Lilawati Singh. He was MLA for five terms. He also worked for a trade union. He had participated in the 1942 Quit India Movement and due to this he was arrested and sent to jail for three years. He was released from jail on 30 August 1945. From 1941-to 45 he participated in individual satyagraha, satyagraha, and other mass movements and for these activities, he was in jail for three and half years. He was General Secretary, Dhanbad District Congress. He was a member of Bihar P.C.C., President of INTUC Working Committee, Bokaro Steel Workers’ Union, and Vice President. He attended the ILO Coal Committee meeting at Pitsburg in 1949, represented Indian Miners at International Miners Federation’s Annual Conference held in Stockholm in 1960, and also participated in Trade Union Seminar in Denmark in 1965. In 1971 he was elected as Lok Sabha Member. He was also involved in social activities such as being a member of the District Development Committee, Dhanbad and Governing Council of Sindri College, President of Gram Dan Pragati Samiti, Dhanbad, and was associated with the cooperative movement in the Dhanbad district. He was interested in volleyball, tennis, and swimming. He died on 11 April 1985.

Mahto or Mahato is a surname used by several castes and communities in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha in India. Mahato is also a popular surname in Nepal. In the zamindari villages, "Mahto" was a title given to the headman of a village ward. The mahto's duties were to maintain peace in his area, and collect revenue for the zamindar. In Chotanagpur plateau region of Jharkhand, including in the Oraon tribal society, Mahato was historically a title of the village chief. In Bihar, the surname Mahto is primarily used by people belonging to Kushwaha caste. While in Jharkhand, it is a term most often associated with Koeri and Kurmi caste.

Sanjeev Singh is an Indian politician and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was an elected member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly from the Jharia constituency in Dhanbad district. In the 2014 Jharkhand Assembly Elections. He is currently serving a sentence in prison.

Former JMM MLA from Silli, Amit Mahto has resigned from the party, accused the leadership of compromising the interest of the people of Jharkhand and forming a new political party Khatiyani Jharkhandi Party on 6 April 2022 to give rights to the local Khatiyani People of Jharkhand.

Mathura Prasad Mahato is an Indian politician from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. He is a member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, elected three times in 2005, 2009 and 2019 from Tundi. He was the Minister of Revenue and Land Reforms in the First Hemant Soren government. He is the JMM and INDI alliance candidate for Giridih in the 2024 Indian general election. He belongs to the community of Kurmis.
