Rajarshi Janak University (Nepal)

Rajarshi Janak University is a public university of Nepal. A national university of Nepal, it is located in Janakpur of Dhanusha District, the capital of Madhesh Province. RJU operates through its two constituent campus, the central campuses in Janakpur and the other being newly established engineering campus in Gaushala. The university offers bachelor and masters level courses in a variety of fields.

Contents

History

The university was founded in October 2017 by the legislature-parliament after passing a bill as per the Constitution under special co-ordination of former Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal, Bimalendra Nidhi. [1] [2] It is focused in educational development of Madhesh Province. [3] The central office of the university is in Janakpur. [4] [5] [6] It has its name based on King Janak, the legendary king of Mithila. [7]

Some of the infrastructure of the university were provided by Tribhuvan University based on the government's decisions while it has established some on its own. [8] [9] [10]

Faculties

The university is involved in agriculture, arts, ayurveda, philosophy, forestry, law, management, medicine and tourism. [11] The university is planning to offer courses on Oriental Philosophy and Mithila Art to promote the culture and civilization of the ancient Mithila. [12] [13] [14] At the early phase, the university started to offer bachelor's courses on public health and law. There are about 759+ students. The current faculties of the university are:

Its headquarters is located in Jaleshwar, a neighbouring town of the historical city of Janakpur. The name Jaleshwar means the 'God in Water'. Madhesh Province is a province of Nepal in the Terai region with an area of 9,661 km2 (3,730 sq mi) covering about 6.5% of the country's total area. It has a population of 6,126,288 as per the 2021 Nepal census, making it Nepal's most densely populated province and the smallest province by area. It borders Koshi Pradesh to the east and the north, Bagmati Province to the north, and India’s Bihar state to the south and the west. The border between Chitwan National Park and Parsa National Park acts as the provincial boundary in the west, and the Kosi River forms the provincial border in the east. Ramswarup Ramsagar Multiple Campus is one of the 62 constituent campuses of Tribhuvan University. The campus was established in 1957 and is one of the oldest constituent campuses of the Tribhuvan University (Nepal). It is one of the oldest educational institutions of Nepal and has helped establish Janakpur as a centre of education.

Mithila Bihari is a municipality in Danusha District in Madhesh Province of Nepal. It was formed in 2016 occupying current 10 Sections (Wards) from previous 10 VDCs. It occupies an area of 37.60 km2 with a total population of 37,276. Dhanusha district, located in the central part of the Janakpur region, which is one of the development regions of Nepal, is bordered by southern India. There are 18 local levels located in the central part of the Dhanusha district, which were part of the Madhyamanchal Development Region. Among them, six Village Development Committees (VDCs) - Bhutahi Paterwa, Mithileshwar Nikas, Andupatti, Tarapatti Sirsiya, and Mithileshwar Mauwahi - have been merged to form the Mithila Bihari Municipality under the Madhesh Province of Nepal as of Falgun 27, 2073 B.S. Despite being situated in the easily accessible terrain of the Terai region in terms of geographical features, Mithila state has a densely populated settlement from the perspective of human development indicators and progress. In the historic pilgrimage of Mithila state, which includes two main Dolis (Processions) or travel camps, such as the Mela, established with the name of Lord Bihari from Mithila Bihari, the city of Janakpur, which is recognized as the holy place of the Hindu religion, meaning the father-in-law's place of Lord Ram, has given additional identity to the Mithila Bihari. From a religious point of view, Mithila Bihari has been named after Lord Ram, who is historically recognized, which has resulted in the naming of this local place as Mithila Bihari. Published in the Rajpatra on Jestha 11, 2074 B.S., upgrading the Mithila Bihari Rural Municipality to the Municipality level was not possible, but an interim order of the Supreme Court issued on Bhadra 27, 2074 B. S. resulted in the transformation of Mithila Bihari Rural Municipality into a Municipality.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Purbanchal University School of Engineering</span>

Purbanchal University School of Engineering is the only constituent engineering college of Purbanchal University. Located in Biratnagar, the capital of Koshi Province it established in 1999 AD with aim to provide engineering skills and knowledge related to the sector. PUSOE provides bachelor and masters level course in various streams of engineering.
