Raju Nong is an Indian actor and singer who appears in Manipuri films. [1] [2] [3] He is popularly known for his hit song Ho Nong and since then, he has been known as Raju Nong. [4] [5] Some of his famous movies include Meera Memcha , Lanmei Thanbi, Nobap , Liklaai, Gaari Driver, Loibataare Ta Raju and Tillaikhombee . [6] As of 2025, his film Phouoibee , directed by Rakesh Moirangthem, got official selection at the 31st Kolkata International Film Festival. [7] [8]

Early life and education

Raju Nong started attending music classes at the TG School Centre (Music College) after completing his high school. He studied till second year. He attended school at Adam Jati High School and completed his graduation from Liberal College, Luwangsangbam. [9]

Career

Raju Nong joined his classes at Laishram Mema's Music centre and also cleared Visharat from CTI in the year 1996–97, guided by Oja Kameshor. Around that year, he became an approved artist of All India Radio. In 2002, he came up with a solo album Ho Nong. With no financial back up, one of his friend Ranbir invested the entire amount of ₹ 1 lakh for the recordings at Bindiya Recording Centre, Pishumthong. Another friend Tarachand helped him in the lyrics of the album. The song became a hit. [10] His debut film is Meera Memcha (2007), which had a successful run of more than 50 days at Friends Talkies, Imphal. Other popular movies of Raju Nong are Liklaai, Lanmei Thanbi, Loibataare Ta Raju and Nobap . [11]
