Rakesh Raghunathan is a chef, food historian and TV host. [1] [2] He is known for presenting South Indian food history on television and featuring in the panel of judges at MasterChef India. [3] [4]

Career

He started his career after earning an MBA degree from University of Hartford, CT, USA. [5] He launched PetaWrap, a fast-food chain before shifting his focus to food and history. [6] He began exploring food and regional dishes in Tamil Nadu. [7] [8] In 2019, he hosted Dakshin Diaries, a TV series on Living Foodz. [9] [10] He started exploring food and culture of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. [11] [12] In 2024, he was one of the judges at the Masterchef Tamil season 2. [13]

He has documented recipes and culinary traditions as a food historian. [14] He uses food and cooking as a medium for story telling. [15]

Puttu is a dish native to the Southern Indian state of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, parts of Karnataka, and Sri Lanka. Puttu means "portioned" in Tamil and Malayalam. It is made of steamed cylinders of ground rice layered with coconut shavings, sometimes with a sweet or savory filling on the inside. Puttu is usually a breakfast dish served hot with either sweet side dishes such as palm sugar or banana, or savoury with chana masala, chutney, rasam, or meat curries.

BSNL Sports Quiz is a weekly television phone-in quiz program in India, running continuously since 2002. Since its inception till early 2019, the program's episodes were hosted/anchored by Dr. Sumanth C. Raman who was also its main ideator. In September 2017, the program completed 800 weekly episodes, continuing to be India's longest running quiz program. Now BSNL Sports Quiz is telecast on Sunday nights on the DD Podhigai satellite channel. The programme is branded and sponsored by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Tamil Nadu Circle, with weekly prizes also given by BSNL. The program takes calls from contestants via SMS, e-mail, Skype and mobile phone. On 24 February 2019 Sumanth Raman was replaced by L.Srirama Narayanan as the host for the show.

Gopi Shankar Madurai is an Indian equal rights and Indigenous rights activist. Shankar was one of the youngest, and the first openly intersex and genderqueer statutory authority and one of the candidates to contest in 2016 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election. Shankar is also the founder of Srishti Madurai Student Volunteer Collective. Shankar's work inspired the Madras High Court to direct the Government of Tamil Nadu to order a ban on forced sex-selective surgeries on intersex infants. In December 2017, Shankar was elected to the executive board of ILGA Asia. In August 2020, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment appointed Shankar as the South Regional representative in the National Council for Transgender Persons.

Anbumani and Arivumani, jointly known as Anbariv, are an Indian duo of brothers, who are action choreographers and stunt coordinators in Tamil cinema, Telugu cinema, Malayalam cinema, Kannada cinema, and Hindi cinema. The duo are well known for their action sequences in films such as Madras (2014), Kabali (2016), and KGF: Chapter 1 (2018). MasterChef India – Tamil is an Indian Tamil-language competitive cooking reality show based on MasterChef Australia and is part of MasterChef India. Produced by Innovative Film Academy and Endemol Shine India, it is broadcast on Sun TV. The show is hosted by Vijay Sethupathi. The show was originally supposed to be aired in May 2021; however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India, the show was pushed back to 7 August 2021. The debut season of the Tamil version of MasterChef made the MasterChef format surpass 500 seasons worldwide.
