Ralph Hammerthaler (born 2 December 1965) is a German writer.
Born in Wasserburg am Inn, Hammerthaler studied in Munich, Berlin and Jena and wrote a dissertation on political public sphere in sociology. After eight years as a writer in the feature section of the Süddeutsche Zeitung , including two years as culture editor in Berlin, he began writing novels, stories and essays as well as plays and opera libretti. His libretto Die Bestmannoper about the Nazi war criminal Alois Brunner was set to music by Alex Nowitz and premiered in 2006 in the presence of Serge and Beate Klarsfeld. [1] His plays have been translated into several languages. He was a guest dramaturge at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz and he is Socio Honorario of the Teatro Sombrero Azul in Mexico City. He was city writer in Dresden, [2] Rheinsberg, [3] Prishtina and Split [4] as well as street writers in Oberhausen. His literary work has won many awards. The Süddeutsche Zeitung praised his novel "Unter Komplizen" (Among Accomplices) as a "contemporary artist's novel with an auspicious drive". [5]

Ever since their publication and up to the present day, some of his works have been very popular in German-speaking Europe.

The Konzerthaus Berlin is a concert hall in Berlin, the home of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. Situated on the Gendarmenmarkt square in the central Mitte district of the city, it was originally built as a theater. It initially operated from 1818 to 1821 under the name of the Schauspielhaus Berlin, then as the Theater am Gendarmenmarkt and Komödie. It became a concert hall after the Second World War, and its name changed to its present one in 1994.

Ernst Welisch was an Austrian playwright and theatre director. He is primarily known for the numerous operetta librettos that he wrote for composers such as Leo Fall, Jean Gilbert, Emmerich Kálmán, and Ralph Benatzky. Welisch was born in Vienna, but spent most of his career in Berlin. In the 1930s he returned to Vienna where he died shortly before the premiere of his last work, Venedig in Wien.
