Ralph Ovadal

Ralph Ovadal is the pastor of Pilgrims Covenant Church in Monroe, Wisconsin [1] and is known for controversial views and opposition to modern Bible translations, the Roman Catholic Church, homosexuality, and abortion. [2]

Ovadal has called the pope the "antichrist" [3] and asserts that the Catholic Church has masterminded a plot "to turn Protestant America into a Roman Catholic country" by "aiding and abetting the criminal invasion of America from Mexico". [4]

Ovadal has endorsed The Pink Swastika , a book that asserts that homosexuals "conceived, organized and controlled" the Nazi Party. [3] The Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks extremist groups in the United States, has listed Pilgrims Covenant Church as an anti-LGBT hate group. [5]

According to Ovadal's church, Ovadal was arrested "approximately 120 times" between November 1988 and May 1992 for physically blocking entrances to abortion clinics, mostly on charges of disorderly conduct and trespass. [6]

Ovadal was an avowed opponent of a nude beach called Mazo Beach near Mazomanie which in 2012 was one of the top five most popular nude beaches in the US; [7] [8] the beach was closed in 2016. [9] Ovadal began his protests against nudity in the parking lot of the beach in 2000, and on May 28, 2001, Ovadal led a group of protestors who called for a woman in the beach's parking lot to repent, and called her "'harlot", and" whore" and "Jezebel". After the woman filed a complaint, Ovadal was charged with disorderly conduct and subsequently convicted, a $1,000 fine being levied against him. [1] [10] [7]

ADF is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, with branch offices in Washington, D.C. and New York, among other locations. The global arm, Alliance Defending Freedom International, which is headquartered in Vienna, Austria, operates in over 100 countries.

Liberty Counsel is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt religious liberty organization that engages in litigation related to evangelical Christian values. Liberty Counsel was founded in 1989 by its chairman Mathew Staver and its president Anita L. Staver, who are attorneys and married to each other. The Southern Poverty Law Center has listed Liberty Counsel as an anti-LGBT hate group, a designation the group has disputed. The group is a Christian ministry.

Mazo Beach is the colloquial name for Mazomanie Bottoms State Natural Area, located in Sauk County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Property along the river was acquired in parcels by the State of Wisconsin since the 1950s to provide a full range of nature based activities including hiking, wildlife viewing, hunting, fishing, and wildlife habitat. Since 1978, the beach and surrounding nature preserve have attracted picnickers and swimming day-trippers to its open and expansive shoreline.

The World Congress of Families (WCF) is a United States coalition that promotes Christian right values internationally. It opposes same-sex marriage, pornography, and abortion, while supporting a society built on "the voluntary union of a man and a woman in a lifelong covenant of marriage". WCF comprises organizations in several countries, and most of its member partners are strongly active campaigners against abortion rights and same-sex marriage. WCF was formed in 1997 and is active worldwide, regularly organizing conventions. Its opposition to gay marriage and abortion has attracted criticism.

He unsuccessfully attempted to be elected as the governor of Massachusetts in both 2014 and 2018.

Faithful Word Baptist Church is a New Independent Fundamentalist Baptist church in Tempe, Arizona, that was founded by Steven Anderson. The church describes itself as "an old-fashioned, independent, fundamental, King James Bible-only, soul-winning Baptist church." Members of the church meet in an office space that is located inside a strip mall. Anderson established the church in December 2005 and remains its pastor.

New Independent Fundamentalist Baptist churches or officially the New Independent Fundamental Baptist Movement are an association of conservative, King James Bible–only, independent Baptist churches. The New IFB began with Steven Anderson of Faithful Word Baptist Church in response to perceived liberalism in other independent Baptist churches. The New IFB does not consider itself to be a denomination, but it requires affiliated churches to follow a set of core doctrines. As of 2019, the New IFB listed 32 affiliated congregations on its website, most in the U.S. with some in Australia, Canada, the Philippines and South Africa.
