Ram Rahman is a noted contemporary Indian photographer and curator. [1] [2] [3] [4] based in Delhi. He is one of the founding members of the Safdar Hashmi Memorial Trust (SAHMAT) [5] in New Delhi, a leader in the resistance to communal and sectarian forces in India through its public cultural action.
Ram Rahman was born in 1955 to Indrani Rahman, a classical Indian dancer, and Habib Rahman, a noted Indian architect. Ram Rahman completed his degree in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also received a degree in Graphic Design from the Yale University School of Art in 1979.
Ram Rahman received the prestigious Forbes India Art Award in the year 2014 for best "exhibition of Indian art curated on an international stage". [6] [7] Ram Rahman had curated "The Sahmat Collective: Art and Activism in India since 1989" [8] at the Smart Museum of Art, Chicago which showcased work of more than 60 artists showcasing two decades of contemporary Indian Art within the political sphere.
Ram Rahman has shown his photographs in individual and group shows in India and around the world. His works have been exhibited at the India International Centre, Delhi (Imaging Delhi, 2011); [9] Duke University, Raleigh (Street Smart, 2000); [10] Bodhi Art, Rabindra Bhavan, New Delhi (Bioscope, 2008); [11] Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, Ohio (2002); [12] Admit One Gallery, New York (2000); Triveni Gallery, New Delhi (1978); Brunswick Public Library, Brunswick, Maine (1977); Rotch Visual collections, MIT, Cambridge (1977) and many other galleries and institutions around the world. His works have been exhibited as part of many groups shows in India and abroad. Ram's most recent group show was 'Touched by Bhupen', [13] exhibited at Galerie Mirchandanni and Steinruecke, Mumbai, 2013. Other prominent group shows include 'Where Three Dreams Cross', [14] White Chappel Gallery, London (2010); 'Public Places, Private Spaces' [15] at the Newark Museum (2007); 'I fear, I believe, I desire' at Gallery Espace, New Delhi; 'Woman / Goddess', [16] British Council, New Delhi (1999);'Context as Content – Museum as Metaphor', The Museum of Fine Arts, Punjab University, Chandigarh (2001), etc.

The National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) is the premier art gallery under Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The main museum at Jaipur House in New Delhi was established on 29 March 1954 by the Government of India, with subsequent branches at Mumbai and Bangalore. Its collection of more than 1700 works by 2000 plus artists includes artists such as Thomas Daniell, Raja Ravi Verma, Abanindranath Tagore, Rabindranath Tagore, Gaganendranath Tagore, Nandalal Bose, Jamini Roy, Amrita Sher-Gil as well as foreign artists. Some of the oldest works preserved here date back to 1857. With 12,000 square meters of exhibition space, the Delhi branch is one of the world's largest modern art museums.
Safdar Hashmi was a communist playwright and director, best known for his work with street theatre in India. He was also an actor, lyricist, and theorist, and he is still considered an important voice in Indian political theatre. He was an activist of the Students' Federation of India (SFI).
Anjolie Ela Menon is one of India's leading contemporary artists. Her paintings are in several major collections, including the NGMA, the Chandigarh Museum and the Peabody Essex Museum. In 2006, her triptych work "Yatra" was acquired by the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, California. Other works also been a part of group exhibitions including 'Kalpana: Figurative Art in India', presented by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in London's Aicon Gallery in 2009. Her preferred medium is oil on masonite, though she has also worked in other media, including Murano glass, computer graphics and water colour. She is a well known muralist. She was awarded the Padma Shree in 2000. She lives and works in New Delhi.
Ranjit Hoskote is an Indian poet, art critic, cultural theorist and independent curator. He has been honoured by the Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, with the Sahitya Akademi Golden Jubilee Award and the Sahitya Akademi Prize for Translation. In 2022, Hoskote received the 7th JLF-Mahakavi Kanhaiyalal Sethia Award for Poetry.
Vasudeo S. Gaitonde, also known as V. S. Gaitonde, was regarded as one of India's foremost abstract painters. He received the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1971.
Ganesh Pyne was an Indian painter and draughtsman, born in Kolkata, West Bengal. Pyne is one of the most notable contemporary artists of the Bengal School of Art, who had also developed his own style of "poetic surrealism", fantasy and dark imagery, around the themes of Bengali folklore and mythology.

India Art Fair, previously known as India Art Summit founded by Sunil Gautam, is an annual Indian modern and contemporary art fair held in New Delhi, India. The fair includes paintings, sculptures, photography, mixed media, prints, drawings and video art. The first three editions of the fair were organized at Pragati Maidan, one of India's largest and oldest exhibitions grounds. Starting from the 4th edition, the venue was shifted to NSIC grounds, Okhla. First held in 2008, it is India's largest art fair. The art fair includes several pavilions of exhibits by galleries and solo projects by several artists. It also has an art education series with guided walks conducted by curators and students of art history. Simultaneously, there is a speakers' forum with panel of Indian and international experts from the art domain to discuss issues pertaining to the art in the region. It focuses on key issues related with the art production, art market and its reception in India.

Sunil Janah was an Indian photojournalist and documentary photographer who worked in India in the 1940s. Janah documented India's independence movement, its peasant and labour movements, famines and riots, rural and tribal life, as well as the years of rapid urbanization and industrialization. He was best known for his coverage of the Bengal famine of 1943.
Raman Siva Kumar, known as R. Siva Kumar, is an Indian contemporary art historian, art critic, and curator. His major research has been in the area of early Indian modernism with special focus on the Santiniketan School. He has written several important books, lectured widely on modern Indian art and contributed articles to prestigious international projects such as the Art Journal, Grove Art Online or The Dictionary of Art, Oxford University Press.
Abul Kalam Azad is a noted contemporary Indian photographer. Abul's photographic works are predominantly autobiographical and expose the areas of politics, culture, contemporary history, gender and eroticism. His works attempts a re-reading of contemporary Indian history – the history in which ordinary people are absent and mainly provided by beautiful images and icons. Abul's works makes an active intervention in the common illustrative discourse of this history. Using the same tool, photography, that chisels history out of a block of ‘real’ human experiences, Abul makes a parody of it. 'Overall, the corpus of Azad's work can be seen to have a thrust towards an archive of local micro-history at the level of personal memory and in that sense, his works add up to a kind of social anthropology of his land and its people, though not necessarily in the line of tradition of the objective documentary'. Abul Kalam Azad is the visionary behind EtP Ekalokam Trust for Photography, a Trust dedicated to preserving and promoting contemporary Photography. He is also the Director of Project 365, a public photo art project that collectively creates and preserves photographic visuals of the fast changing culture and lifestyle of ancient Tamilakam. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Photo Mail online magazine.

Sheba Chhachhi, is an Ethiopian-born Indian photographer, women's rights activist, writer, filmmaker, and installation artist. She is based in New Delhi and has exhibited her works widely in India and internationally.
Sukanya Rahman is a classical Indian dancer, visual artist, and writer. Her book Dancing in the family, a memoir of three women has received several acclaims. Her painting and collage works are widely exhibited in India and abroad. Her works have been exhibited at the William Benton Museum of Art in Storr’s CT, The Arts Complex Museum in Duxbury, MA and The Fowler Museum, Los Angeles. She was featured in the book Voyages of Body and Soul: Selected Female Icons of India and Beyond.

The Jehangir Nicholson Art Foundation (JNAF) is a private, not-for-profit organization located in Mumbai, India, with its core interest in promoting the preservation, exhibition, education, and research of post-colonial Indian modern art. The collection is endowed by the personal collection of the late Jehangir Nicholson, comprising over 800 pieces of art across mediums from artists including M. F. Husain, Vasudeo S. Gaitonde, S. H. Raza, K. H. Ara, etc. The foundation is currently housed in the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, managing the Jehangir Nicholson Gallery - the modern and contemporary art wing of the museum.
