There are three types of elections in Nepal:elections to the federal parliament,elections to the provincial assemblies and elections to the local government. Within each of these categories,there may be by-elections as well as general elections. Currently three electoral systems are used:parallel voting for the House of Representatives and provincial assemblies,single transferable vote for the National Assembly,and first-past-the-post for local elections.
The House of Representatives,commonly known as Pratinidhi Sabha,is one of the houses of the Federal Parliament of Nepal,with the other house being the National Assembly. Members of the House of Representatives are elected through a parallel voting system. They hold their seats for five years or until the body is dissolved by the President on the advice of the council of ministers. The house meets at the International Convention Centre in Kathmandu.

They were held under the provisions of the 1959 constitution,which had been adopted on 12 February. More than 4.25 million people out of an overall population of about 8.55 million (1954) were eligible to vote. Voter turnout was 42.18%.

Mahendra Ray Yadav is a Nepali politician and a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. He is the current central committee chairman of Nepal Socialist Party.
General elections were held in Nepal on 20 November 2022 to elect the 275 members of the House of Representatives. There were two ballots in the election;one to elect 165 members from single-member constituencies via FPTP,and the other to elect the remaining 110 members from a single nation-wide constituency via party-list proportional representation.

Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav is a Nepalese politician serving as the vice president of Nepal since 20 March 2023. He is a former minister for forests and environment of Nepal.
Ekbal Miya is a Nepalese politician and was Minister of Youth and Sports of Government of Nepal since 4 June 2021 but was removed from the post by Supreme Court on 22 June 2021. He started his political life in 2043 BS from ANNFSU but in 2073 BS he joined the then Terai Madhes Loktantrik Party,became a central committee member of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal and is currently a People's Socialist Party,Nepal leader.
Jwala Kumari Sah is a Nepalese politician,belonging to the CPN (UML) currently serving as a member of the 2nd Federal Parliament of Nepal. In the 2022 Nepalese general election,she won the election from Bara 3 (constituency).
Achyut Prasad Mainali is a Nepalese politician,belonging to the CPN (UML) currently serving as a member of the 2nd Federal Parliament of Nepal. In the 2022 Nepalese general election,he won the election from Bara 1 (constituency).
The 2023 Bara–2 by-election was held in the Bara 2 constituency of Nepal on 23 April 2023. The by-election was held as the result of the vacation of the seat by the sitting member,Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav,who was elected vice president on 17 March 2023. It was held alongside by-elections in Chitwan 2 and Tanahun 1.
