Rameet Chawla (born January 1, 1983) is an American entrepreneur, who is the founder and CEO of Fueled, a design and development company based in New York City, London, and Chicago. Chawla has contributed to the web development of several startup companies. [1]

New York City Largest city in the United States

The City of New York, usually called either New York City (NYC) or simply New York (NY), is the most populous city in the United States. Early life and education

After graduating from Spanish River Community High School in Boca Raton in 2001, Chawla moved to New York City to attend New York University Stern School of Business, where he majored in information systems, finance, and international business. [2]

Spanish River Community High School is a public, coeducational high school in Boca Raton, Florida. It is part of the School District of Palm Beach County and serves the cities of Boca Raton and Delray Beach.

Career

Following the launch of the Apple App Store in 2009, Chawla founded Fueled, a mobile application development company based in New York City and London. [1] Fueled created mobile apps for companies and startups including American Express, Coca-Cola, Chicago Bulls, Wendy's, Condé Nast, and UrbanDaddy. [2] [3] [4]

The App Store is a digital distribution platform, developed and maintained by Apple Inc., for mobile apps on its iOS operating system. The store allows users to browse and download apps developed with Apple's iOS software development kit. Apps can be downloaded on the iPhone smartphone, the iPod Touch handheld computer, or the iPad tablet computer, and some can be transferred to the Apple Watch smartwatch or 4th-generation or newer Apple TVs as extensions of iPhone apps.

The American Express Company, also known as Amex, is an American multinational financial services corporation headquartered in Three World Financial Center in New York City. The company was founded in 1850 and is one of the 30 components of the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The company is best known for its charge card, credit card, and traveler's cheque businesses.

Chawla is the co-founder of the Fueled Collective, a coworking space in downtown Manhattan that houses Fueled's NYC office alongside other startups. At any given time, the space hosts around 35 companies. The space has been ranked[ by whom? ] as one of the best-designed offices in Manhattan, noted for its use of vintage furniture and bespoke designs. [5]

Coworking shared workspace encouraging exchanges and openness

Coworking is defined in one trade magazine for coworking companies as a self-directed, collaborative, flexible and voluntary work style that is based on mutual trust and the sharing of common core values between its participants. Coworking involves a shared workplace, often an office, and independent activity. Unlike in a typical office, those coworking are usually not employed by the same organization. Typically, it is attractive to work-at-home professionals, independent contractors, independent scientists or people who travel frequently who end up working in relative isolation. Coworking is a social gathering of a group of people who are still working independently, but who share values and who are interested in the synergy that can happen from working with people who value working in the same place alongside each other. Coworking offers a solution to the problem of isolation that many freelancers experience while working at home, while at the same time letting them escape the distractions of home. It generally costs money in the form of membership dues, though some spaces are free of charge.

Chawla is an angel investor in a number of early-stage startups, including Coinbase, Blue Bottle, and Artsy. [6]

Coinbase is a digital currency exchange headquartered in San Francisco, California. They broker exchanges of Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, and Litecoin with fiat currencies in approximately 32 countries, and bitcoin transactions and storage in 190 countries worldwide.

In 2014, Chawla launched Lovematically, a mobile app and social experiment which automatically "liked" social media posts. It was quickly shut down by Facebook and Instagram. [7] [8] [9]

It was founded by Mark Zuckerberg, along with fellow Harvard College students and roommates Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. It is considered one of the Big Four technology companies along with Amazon, Apple, and Google.

Instagram Online photo-sharing and social networking service

Instagram is a photo and video-sharing social networking service owned by Facebook, Inc. It was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, and launched in October 2010 exclusively on iOS. A version for Android devices was released a year and half later, in April 2012, followed by a feature-limited website interface in November 2012, and apps for Windows 10 Mobile and Windows 10 in April 2016 and October 2016 respectively.

Personal life

In 2013, Chawla was selected to be one of the 30 entrepreneurs in the NYC Venture Fellows 2013 class, [10] and was listed as one of The Next Web's 50 people to know in New York City's tech scene. [11]

In 2012, Chawla was listed as one of the 50 most stylish New Yorkers by StyleCaster. [12]
