Ramesh L Chakrasali is an author and the principal of SDM College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad. He is a senior professor at the department of Electrical and Electronics engineering at SDMCET. [2] He has written several books such as Basic Electrical engineering, Testing and Commissioning of Electrical Equipment and Electrical Power Utilization. [3] [4] [5] [6]

Education

He obtained his B.E. (Electrical) and M.E. (Digital Electronics) from SDM College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad, affiliated to Karnatak University, Dharwad. He was awarded Ph.D. from Visvesvaraya Technological University Belagavi, in the field of renewable energy sources based standalone micro hybrid grid. [7]

Academic career

Chakrasali joined SDMCET as a professor in 1990 and was the dean of the college from 2015 to 2022 and academic coordinator from 2015 to 2023. [8] He became the principal of SDMCET on 1 February 2024. He was awarded the Scroll of Honour for Outstanding Contribution to Engineering as Chariman in 2021 by the The Institution of Engineers. [9]

Chakrasali is serving is a Member of various academic bodies. [10] [11]

Other works

Chakarasali has been an active member for the Make in India, an initiative of the Union government that aims to encourage multinational and national companies to manufacture goods in India to increase employment and growth in local businesses. [12] He was the event coordinator for the National Technical Paper Contest in 2011 held in the department of Electronics Engineering at SDM College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad. [13]
