Rami Al-Ali is a Syrian fashion designer. [1] Al Ali graduated from the College of Fine Arts in Damascus, Syria with a degree in Visual Communications in 1995. Then, he decided to move to the United Arab Emirates to gain more experience in the fashion industry before creating his label, Rami Al Ali, in 2001. [2]

The House

Al Ali made a breakthrough in his fashion design career in 2009 when he showed on the official couture calendar at Alta Moda Alta Roma in Italy. Moreover, he made his debut at Paris Couture Week in 2012. [3]

In 2014, Al Ali expanded his repertoire by launching a ready-to-wear line, characterized by classic silhouettes and elegant lines, reflecting a modern approach to luxurious evening wear. The brand continued to evolve, introducing Rami Al Ali White in 2020, a collection of ready-to-wear bridal designs. [4]

Al Ali's designs have gone to dress many celebrities including the Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan [5] , Beyoncé [6] , Jennifer Lopez [7] , the Syrian singer Assala [8] , Amal Clooney [9] , Naomi Campbell [10] , Eva Longoria [11] , Helen Miren [12] , Sharon Stone [13] , Leonnie Hanne, Fan Bingbing [14] , Yussra [15] , and many more.

Art & Uplifting Women

Al Ali dedicates a huge part of his label and designs to, both, art and women empowerment. He represented this in his 2019 exhibition titled Personal Revolutions in collaboration with the Atassi Foundation. The exhibition shed light on the beginnings of the women's art movement in Al Ali's home country, Syria, focusing on the role of women in the Syrian art scene. [16]

Collaborations

Throughout his career, Al Ali collaborated with several esteemed brands and designers, including the jewelry house, Messika [17] , fine jewelry brands, like Van Clef & Arpels and Bulgari [18] , as well as the Spanish architect Carmelo Zappulla for Expo 2020 [19] .

Al Ali is also a mentor in collaboration with Dubai Design and Fashion Council (DDFC). His goal is to elevate local and regional talent in the fashion industry and foster sustainability. [20]

Nominations

Al Ali was nominated for The Business of Fashion (BoF) 500 - Class of 2023. The BoF is a live index of the 500 most influential people in the global fashion industry. [21]

Ard Dyar

Ard Dyar is an initiative started by Rami Al Ali in 2020, and it is space designed to support and cultivate emerging Syrian talent globally. [22]

Anamika Khanna is an Indian fashion designer who operates from her studio situated in Kolkata. The Tadashi Shoji brand is carried in over 700 major department and specialty stores worldwide, with signature boutiques in the United States, Indonesia, and the Middle East. The company operates offices in Los Angeles and Shanghai, as well as showrooms in New York City, Tokyo, and Osaka.

Berta is an Israeli fashion house known for its expertise in luxury bridal fashion and evening wear. Founded by the sole designer of the brand, Berta Balilti.

Steven Khalil is an Australian bridal and red carpet fashion designer, known for his bridal and red carpet gowns. Khalil launched his own fashion brand in 2003, 'Steven Khalil', and has since gained popularity. His designs have been worn by many Australian and International celebrities such as Samantha Jade, Giuliana Rancic, Dannii Minogue, Ariel Winter, Jessica Mauboy, Paula Abdul, Kylie Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Preston, Emily Ratajkowski, Carrie Underwood, Princess Olympia of Greece, Georgia Fowler and Jesinta Campbell.

Galia Lahav is a fashion label established in 1984 in Tel Aviv, Israel. It was founded by fashion designer Galia Lahav. The brand is primarily known for its bridal and evening wear. In January 2017, it became the first Israeli brand to be accepted by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture and to present in Paris Fashion Week. As of 2019, the brand is represented by 70 stores across 40 countries. Singer Beyoncé wore a Galia Lahav bridal gown to renew her vows.

Sophie Couture is a couture label founded by Gunel Babayeva, an Azerbaijani fashion designer.

Mayyur Girotra is an Indian fashion designer and couturier. He lives between Delhi and New York and is known for his bridal and festive wear. He launched his label in 2009, named Mayyur Girotra label.

Gaurav Gupta is an avant-garde Indian couturier. Gupta's work has been featured in events such Paris Haute Couture Week. His work is characterized by his origami style sculptural style patterns with pleating and lifting. Gupta is known to use traditional Indian embroidery techniques like zardozi, nakshi and dabka and borrow abstract patterns from nature. He holds the distinction of being the third Indian designer, following Rahul Mishra and Vaishali S, to present at the couture week.

Ali Karoui, born in 1986 in Tunis, is a Tunisian fashion designer and founder of Ali Karoui Coutures.
