Randall Bennett Woods (born October 10, 1944 ) is an American historian. His research focuses on the history of the United States, as well as its foreign policy history. [1]

Woods has been the John A. Cooper Professor of History at University of Arkansas since 1984. [2]

Life

Woods graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. After completing his doctorate , Woods began teaching at the University of Arkansas , serving as an assistant professor from 1972 to 1977 , an associate professor from 1977 to 1979, a professor from 1979 to 1995, and a distinguished professor since 1995. [3]

He was Stanley Kaplan Visiting Professor of American Foreign Policy at Williams College from 2009 to 2010 . In 2012, he was Mellon Visiting Scholar at Cambridge University. [4] From 2013 to 2014, he was John G. Winant Visiting Professor of American Government at the Rothermere American Institute at the University of Oxford .

His book Fulbright: A Biography won the Robert H. Ferrell Book Prize from the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations in 1996 . It was also nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award .

His work appeared in American Heritage. [5]

Odd Arne Westad FBA is a Norwegian historian specializing in the Cold War and contemporary East Asian history. He is the Elihu Professor of History and Global Affairs at Yale University, where he teaches in the Yale History Department and in the Jackson School of Global Affairs. Previously, Westad held the S.T. Lee Chair of US-Asia Relations at Harvard University, teaching in the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Hollis Micheal Tarver Denova is an American author, historian, and university professor emeritus, with a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Bowling Green State University. Tarver is the son of Rosemary Tarver and Cecil Donald Tarver, Sr..

Samuel Flagg Bemis was an American historian and biographer. For many years he taught at Yale University. He was also president of the American Historical Association and a specialist in American diplomatic history. He was awarded two Pulitzer Prizes. Jerald A. Combs says he was "the greatest of all historians of early American diplomacy."

Germany in his review of the historiography noted in 2009 that Johnson has been the subject of 250 Ph.D. dissertations, well over one hundred books, and many scholarly articles. Serge Ricard, a former Fulbright Scholar, is professor of American Civilization at the Sorbonne Nouvelle. Ricard specializes in both American foreign policy and civilization. He is co-director with Pierre Melandri of OPEA, the Center for the Study of American Foreign Policy at the same university. Ricard also specializes in the foreign policy of 26th US President, Theodore Roosevelt and serves on the international advisory board of the Roosevelt Study Center in the Netherlands. In October, 2007, Ricard was a featured speaker at the Annual Meeting of the Theodore Roosevelt Association in Boston, Massachusetts.

Roberta Fulbright (1874–1953) was an American businesswoman who consolidated her husband's business enterprises and became an influential newspaper publisher, editor, and journalist. She used her paper to push civic responsibility and women's rights. Fulbright was the 1946 Arkansas Mother of the Year, a co-founder of the Arkansas Newspaper Women, and was posthumously inducted into the Arkansas Women's Hall of Fame in its inaugural group of honorees.

Susan Carol Stokes is an American political scientist and the Tiffany and Margaret Blake Distinguished Service Professor in the Political Science department of the University of Chicago, and the faculty director of the Chicago Center on Democracy. Her academic focus is on Latin American politics, comparative politics, and how democracies function in developing countries. Stokes is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She was elected a member of the National Academy of Sciences in 2022.
