Raymond "Ray" Lee Munns (born March 11, 1980) is a former MTV VJ [1] and Trance DJ.
In 2000, Munns beat out 10,000 other hopefuls to win the third annual Wanna Be a VJ contest. During the live show, Munns participated in a series of challenges a VJ would expect to encounter...from introducing videos to interviewing celebrities such as Method Man. At the end of the show, a debate was held between Munns and Shannon Wiseman who was in the lead. In the debate, Munns made a comment about MTV not needing any more Barbie Dolls. He was referring to the cookie cutter image of a VJ. The live studio audience went wild and Munns was awarded fifty one percent to Wiseman's forty nine percent.
Munns started his MTV career as Carson Daly's sidekick on TRL during the 2000 summer beach house. He also did a Wrigley's Big Red spot and appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn . Within one week of his victory he was imitated by Chris Kattan on Saturday Night Live [2] for having an infectious laugh. Munns second live interview came when Carson Daly had Shannon Elizabeth say hello to him on TRL.
After the summer beach house ended, Ray play fought and danced the Britney Spears dance for "Oops I Did It Again" with Jackie Chan on TRL. He was chosen by Time Warner and MTV to shoot five vignettes for the 2000 MTV VMA, and also started work as executive producer on his first mixed CD "Ray's House" for Kinetic Records.
On January 1, 2001, MTV debuted its new show TRL Presents: VJ for a Day. The live daytime program featured contestants battling for Munns' job. Some of the challenges included introducing videos and interacting with celebrities. After winning four times, a contestant would compete with Munns "Head to Head" for his job. After five "Head to Head" matches and hosting VJ for a Day for four months; Munns retained his job and left the show as the “People’s Champion.” [3]
After leaving MTV as a full-time VJ, Munns was named one of People Magazine’s "50 Most Eligible Bachelors". [4] He was featured alongside Matt Damon, George Clooney, Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett, and Russell Crowe. While taking a break from promoting and DJing for his album “Rays House;” he hosted the "Swordfish Movie Special" featuring Paul Oakenfold and Africa Bambaataa. Munns was also brought back as a guest judge on MTV when he was not busy DJing. In 2001, he was a judge at the Miss Teen USA awards.

Total Request Live is an American television program broadcast on MTV that premiered on September 14, 1998. The early version of TRL featured popular music videos played during its countdown and was also used as a promotion tool by musicians, actors, and other celebrities to promote their newest works to target the show's teen demographic.

Last Call with Carson Daly is an American late-night television series that was broadcast by NBC from 2002 to 2019. Hosted by former MTV personality Carson Daly, the series was initially formatted as a late-night talk show in line with The Tonight Show and Late Night. In 2009, Last Call abandoned its studio-based format, and was retooled as an entertainment program featuring interviews and performances filmed on-location with Daly.
Wanna Be a VJ was a show and contest on MTV in the United States. Contestants were selected from the crowd around MTV's Times Square office, and narrowed down via challenges testing the applicants' music knowledge and personality. Once narrowed down to six contestants, viewers were allowed to vote for contestants by telephone and on the Internet. The winner was awarded $25,000 and a one-year contract to be a veejay on Total Request Live. All three events were hosted by Carson Daly.

Celebrity Jeopardy! is a series of sketches that aired regularly on the television comedy/variety show Saturday Night Live between 1996 and 2002, the years when Will Ferrell was a cast member. It parodies the same-named special event on the television quiz show Jeopardy! that features competition between notable individuals with all winnings going towards charitable organizations, and significant reductions to the game's level of difficulty. Fifteen sketches aired between December 1996 and February 2015: two sketches per season from 1996 to 2002, and one each in 2005 and 2009, when Ferrell returned to the show as host. The sketch was revived for the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special on February 15, 2015.

Michael Thomas Green is a Canadian-American comedian, show host, actor, filmmaker, podcaster, and rapper. After pursuing stand-up comedy and music as a young adult, Green created and hosted The Tom Green Show, which aired on Canadian television and later on MTV between 1994 and 2000. From 1981 through 2014, MTV aired New Year's Eve specials. The special was first held in 1981 as MTV's New Year's Eve Rock N' Roll Ball, which featured a concert from the Hotel Diplomat in mid-Manhattan featuring Bow Wow Wow, Karla DeVito, and David Johansen. For its early editions, the Rock N' Roll Ball was hosted by MTV VJs; the 1986–87 edition would instead be hosted by Joe Piscopo and carry an Ancient Rome theme.
