The American Football League (AFL) was a major professional American football league that operated for ten seasons from 1960 until 1970, when it merged with the older National Football League (NFL), and became the American Football Conference. The upstart AFL operated in direct competition with the more established NFL throughout its existence. It was more successful than earlier rivals to the NFL with the same name, the 1926, 1936 and 1940 leagues, and the later All-America Football Conference.
William Lewis Shaw is an American former professional football player who played as a guard for the Buffalo Bills in the American Football League (AFL). After playing college football for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, he was drafted by the Bills. Shaw was the prototypical "pulling guard" who despite his size held his own against much bigger defensive linemen like Ernie Ladd, Earl Faison and Buck Buchanan. He won three straight Eastern Division titles and two American Football League championships in 1964 and 1965 with Buffalo.
Lance Dwight Alworth, nicknamed "Bambi", is an American former football wide receiver who played for the San Diego Chargers of the American Football League (AFL) and the National Football League (NFL) and Dallas Cowboys of the NFL. Often considered one of the greatest wide receivers of all time, he played for 11 seasons, from 1962 through 1972, and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1978. He was the first player inducted whose playing career was principally in the AFL. Alworth is also a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. His teammates called him Bambi because he had a baby face and could run like a deer.
Vito "Babe" Parilli was an American football quarterback and coach who played professionally for 18 seasons. Parilli spent five seasons in the National Football League (NFL), three in the Canadian Football League (CFL), and 10 in the American Football League (AFL). He played college football at the University of Kentucky, where he twice received consensus All-American honors and won two consecutive bowl games.
John Gregory Huarte is an American former football quarterback who played with several teams in the American Football League (AFL), the National Football League (NFL), and in the World Football League (WFL) between 1965 and 1975. He played college football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, where he won the 1964 Heisman Trophy. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2005.

Dalva Ray Allen was an American football defensive end player who played professionally in the American Football League (AFL). He played college football at the University of Houston. After being selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the 23rd round of the 1957 NFL draft, Allen played three games for the Toronto Argonauts in the Canadian Football League (CFL) during the 1957 season. He played for the Houston Oilers on their AFL championship teams in 1960 and 1961, and for the Oakland Raiders from 1962 through 1964.
George William Izo was an American professional football player who was a quarterback for seven seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Washington Redskins, Detroit Lions, and the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1960 to 1966, having earlier played college football at the University of Notre Dame.
Kenneth Earl Rice was an American football offensive tackle and guard who played in the American Football League (AFL) for the Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders, and the Miami Dolphins. Rice played college football for the Auburn Tigers, where he was named a two-time All-American. He was selected by the Bills with the first overall pick of the 1961 AFL draft.

The 1959 Utah Redskins football team was an American football team that represented the University of Utah as a member of the Skyline Conference during the 1959 NCAA University Division football season. In their second season under head coach Ray Nagel, the Redskins compiled an overall record of 5–5 with a mark of 3–2 against conference opponents, placing fourth in the Skyline. Home games were played on campus at Ute Stadium in Salt Lake City.

John Paul Guzik III was an American football linebacker who played three seasons in the National Football League (NFL) and American Football League (AFL) with the Los Angeles Rams and Houston Oilers. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the fourth round of the 1958 NFL draft. Guzik played college football at the University of Pittsburgh and attended Cecil Township High School in Washington County, Pennsylvania. He was a consensus All-American in 1958. He was traded from the New York Giants to the Baltimore Colts for Jerry Richardson on August 3, 1961. He was a member of the Houston Oilers team that won the 1961 AFL championship.
Harrison Marsh is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL). Marsh currently plays for East Fremantle in the West Australian Football League. He was drafted by the Sydney Swans with their second selection and forty-fourth overall in the 2012 national draft. He was delisted at the conclusion of the 2015 season without playing an AFL match, he was however, re-drafted by Sydney as a rookie with the thirty-second pick in the 2016 rookie draft. He made his debut in the twenty-six point win against North Melbourne in round 10, 2016 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
