Rayya Makarim (born September 12, 1974) is an American-born Indonesian screenwriter, producer, director, and actress. She is the sister of Nadiem Makarim.
Makarim was born on September 12, 1974, in Boston, Massachusetts. [1] She is the sister of Nadiem Makarim, a businessman who served as a Minister of education, culture, research, and technology of Indonesia from 2019 until 2024. [1]
On April 23, 2020, Makarim was rumoured to be in a relationship with actor Zack Lee, the ex-husband of actress Nafa Urbach, after he posted photo of him kissing her on his Instagram. [1] [2]
Makarim started her career as a screenwriter for Pasir Berbisik (2001) which starred Dian Sastrowardoyo and Christine Hakim. [1] She continued to write a script for a few films such as: Rumah Ketujuh (2003), Banyu Biru (2005), Buffalo Boys (2018), etc. [1]
She directed Jermal (2008) which starred Didi Petet and became a producer for 27 Steps of May (2018), as well as screenwriter. [1] She became a screenwriter for Grisse (2018), a television series which was produced by HBO. [1]
