RealCall is a US-based AI caller identification and call blocking smartphone application, used to detect, engage and block call and SMS scamming and spamming. It has AI algorithms with built-in free reverse phone lookup service and customized answer bots for detection, engagement and blocking of unwanted calls and messages. Overview

RealCall is a US based AI smartphone application, to detect, engage and block spam calls, with a database of known numbers and an AI algorithm to identify phone numbers and block calls from robocallers, spammers, telemarketers and scammers. It analyze caller's voice and call's content to determine the nature of a call. [2] The app auto block unwanted calls, and use answer bots to answer calls from telemarketers. [3] It has reverse lookup service, used to find owner name, address, network carrier, location, risk level of unknown numbers, [4] and system integrated with FTC Do Not Call Registry. [5] [6]

History

RealCall is developed by Second Phone Number Inc., a privately held company with a head office in San Jose, California, US. [7] It released first iOS version of the app on 6 April 2022, and Android version in December 2022. [8] [9] As of September 2022, it has blocked 30.63 million spam calls and 11.6 billion spam text messages, originating mainly from 530, 502, 626, 915, and 315 US area codes. [10] [11] In November 2022, Dingtone announced partnership with RealCall and integrated its API.[ citation needed ] As of 2022, It has collected 1.5 billion phone numbers in its global database. [1] [12]

The app is only available in US and Canada, for iOS and Android users. [2]

Mobile phone spam is a form of spam, directed at the text messaging or other communications services of mobile phones or smartphones. Their voicemail mobile app replaces the voicemail service offered by mobile phone service providers, and offers webmail-like voicemail access and voicemail-to-text transcriptions. The company also compiles the YouMail Robocall index by monitoring automated call patterns and behaviors, and verifying that activity against numbers that its customers block, or report as spam.

Call blocking, also known as call block, call screening, or call rejection, allows a telephone subscriber to block incoming calls from specific telephone numbers. This feature may require an additional payment to the subscriber's telephone company or a third-party.

Developed by BeenVerified, it can be accessed through its website and smartphone applications for iPhone, Windows Mobile, and Android. It aggregates 99% of landline phones and approximately 50% of domestic cell phones. It also collects data on toll-free and telemarketing callers. It was reported that it averaged approximately 864,000 look-ups per day shortly after its launch in May 2011. It was also listed as a Top 10 Utility App and Top 150 Free Apps Overall by App Annie.

NumBuster! is a phone community that users can access via a mobile phone client and a Web application. Developed by NumBuster Ltd, it allows users to find contact details of any phone number, exchange information about numbers with other users and block calls and messages. The client is available for Android and Apple iOS.

Whoscall is a mobile application that offers caller identification services. It was developed by Gogolook Co., Ltd., a Taiwanese design team. The function of Whoscall is to identify incoming calls, detect scam/harassment numbers, and filter spam text messages, blocking them accordingly. Its name is derived from a shorter version of the phrase "Who is calling?". The app currently has over 90 million users and is available in 31 countries/regions, including Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, and Brazil. The application owns the largest number database in Southeast Asia. Whoscall is the strategic partner of several governmental agencies in their anti-fraud efforts, including the National Police Agency (Taiwan), the Financial Supervisory Service, , Fukuoka City Government., and Police Cyber Taskforce (Thailand).
