Mehmet Recai Kutan (born 1930) is a Turkish politician and the former leader of Felicity Party (SP).
Kutan graduated from ITU obtaining a degree in civil engineering in 1952. Until 1973,he worked as an engineer in various projects including the GAP. His political career started 1973 in MSP and after 1983 he served in Welfare Party. He was minister of energy in 1996 in a coalition led by Refah Party.
At the 3rd party congress held on 26 October 2008 in Ankara,he did not run for his re-election as the leader of the SP,and was succeeded by Numan Kurtulmuş in the post. [1] He is a member of the İsmailağa,a Turkish sufistic community of the Naqshbandi tariqah.

The Lost Trillion Case,also known as the Missing Trillion Case,was an embezzlement scandal in Turkey involving the use of forged documents by the Welfare Party executives to prevent the return of Treasury grants in amount of around one trillion lira,i.e. one million ₺ in today's currency following the ban of the party in 1998. Party leader and former prime minister Necmettin Erbakan as well as 68 party officials received prison sentences after a court trial,although the former's was commuted to house arrest.
Dengir Mir Mehmet Fırat was a Turkish politician of Kurdish origin who was one of the founders of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) in 2001. He served as a Member of Parliament for the Grand National Assembly from 1999 to 2011 and again from 2015 to 2018 as a member of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP).
The February 2016 Ankara bombing killed at least 30 people and injured 60 in the capital of Turkey. According to Turkish authorities,the attack targeted a convoy of vehicles carrying both civilian and military personnel working at the military headquarters during the evening rush hour as the vehicles were stopped at traffic lights at an intersection with İsmet İnönüBoulevard close to Kızılay neighborhood. Several ministries,the headquarters of the army and the Turkish Parliament are located in the neighbourhood where the attack occurred. The Kurdistan Freedom Hawks (TAK) took responsibility for the attack and said they targeted security forces. Censorship monitoring organization Turkey Blocks reported nationwide internet restrictions beginning approximately one hour after the blast pursuant to an administrative order. The attack killed 14 military personnel,14 civilian employees of the military,and a civilian.
