Reclaim Philadelphia is an American progressive activist group based in the city of Philadelphia. Strongly associated with the 501c4 group Pennsylvania Stands Up, Reclaim was founded out of the structures created by the Bernie Sanders 2016 presidential campaign. [3]
Reclaim Philadelphia was founded after Bernie Sanders had suspended his 2016 presidential campaign, as several Philadelphia-based activists disappointed with his loss decided to form an activist group in order to continue to advocate for what they viewed as progressive policies. [4] The victory of Donald Trump in that years' presidential election galvanised the group, which began to hold more regular meetings as a result. [5] Officially the Philadelphia chapter of the national group Our Revolution, Reclaim was active in Larry Krasner's successful 2017 campaign to become Philadelphia district attorney, credited by Krasner as having a "key role" in his victory. [6] In the 2018 election cycle, Reclaim members took control of the 1st and 2nd Philadelphia wards, located in South Philadelphia. [6] Reclaim is noted for its approach to city politics, instructing its members to run for the position of Democratic committeeman in their local area as a way to take control of the Philadelphia ward system. Reclaim was active in assisting the election campaign of Kendra Brooks to the Philadelphia City Council. [8] In 2020, two members of Reclaim, Nikil Saval, who had co-founded the organization, and Rick Krajewski, were elected to the Pennsylvania Legislature, primarying incumbents Larry Farnese and James R. Roebuck respectively. [9] [7]
Bernard Sanders is an American politician and activist who has served as the junior United States senator from Vermont since 2007 and as the U.S. representative for the state's at-large congressional district from 1991 to 2007. He will become Vermont's senior senator and dean of its congressional delegation following the scheduled retirement of Patrick Leahy in January 2023. He is the longest-serving independent in U.S. congressional history, although he has a close relationship with the Democratic Party, having caucused with House and Senate Democrats for most of his congressional career. Sanders unsuccessfully sought the Democratic Party nomination for president of the United States in 2016 and 2020, finishing in second place in both campaigns. Before his election to Congress, he was mayor of Burlington, Vermont.
Democracy for America (DFA) is a progressive political action committee, headquartered in South Burlington, Vermont. Founded by former Democratic National Committee Chair Howard Dean in 2004, DFA leads public awareness campaigns on a variety of public policy issues, trains activists, and provides funding directly to candidates for office. The organization has more than a million members in the United States and internationally.
John Karl Fetterman is an American politician serving as the 34th Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as Mayor of Braddock from 2005 to 2019. Fetterman was a candidate in the United States Senate election in Pennsylvania for 2016 and is running again in 2022.
Joshua David Shapiro is an American lawyer and politician serving as the attorney general of Pennsylvania. He previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and as chairman of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Shapiro is currently running for governor of Pennsylvania in the 2022 election.
Nina Hudson Turner is an American educator and politician. A member of the Democratic Party, she was a Cleveland City Council member from 2006 to 2008 and an Ohio State Senator from 2008 until 2014. Turner was the Democratic nominee for Ohio Secretary of State in 2014, but lost in the general election against incumbent Jon Husted, receiving 35.5 percent of the vote.
Lawrence M. Farnese Jr. is an American attorney and politician. He was a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania Senate where he represented the 1st District from 2009 until November 30, 2020.
Marian B. Tasco is an American politician who served on the Philadelphia City Council. A member of the Democratic Party, Tasco represented Philadelphia's ninth district for twenty-eight years.
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is a multi-tendency socialist and labor-oriented nonprofit organization. Its roots are in the Socialist Party of America (SPA), whose leaders included Eugene V. Debs, Norman Thomas and Michael Harrington. In 1973, Harrington, the leader of a minority faction that had opposed the SPA's transformation into the Social Democrats, USA (SDUSA) during the party's 1972 national convention, formed the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee (DSOC). The DSOC, which Harrington described as "the remnant of a remnant", soon became the largest democratic socialist group in the United States. In 1982, it merged with the New American Movement (NAM), a coalition of intellectuals with roots in the New Left movements of the 1960s and former members of socialist and communist parties of the Old Left.
Nikil Saval is an Indian-American magazine editor, writer, organizer, activist, and politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he represents the 1st district in the Pennsylvania State Senate.

The 2018 United States Senate election in Vermont was held November 6, 2018, alongside a gubernatorial election, U.S. House election, and other state and local elections. Incumbent independent Senator Bernie Sanders was re-elected to a third term. The primaries were held on August 14.
Our Revolution is an American progressive political action organization spun out of Senator Bernie Sanders's 2016 presidential campaign to continue its work. The organization's mission is to educate voters about issues, get people involved in the political process, and work to organize and elect progressive candidates. Our Revolution is also the title of a book by Sanders released in November 2016.

Lawrence Samuel Krasner is an American lawyer who is the 26th District Attorney of Philadelphia. Elected to the position in 2017, Krasner campaigned on a platform to reform elements of the criminal justice system, including to reduce incarceration.
Malcolm Kenyatta is an American politician from North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A member of the Democratic Party, he has served as the Pennsylvania State Representative for the 181st district since 2019.
The 2020 Vermont gubernatorial election was held on November 3, 2020, to elect the Governor of Vermont. As Vermont does not impose term limits upon its governors, incumbent Republican Governor Phil Scott was eligible to run for reelection to a third two-year term in office. On November 18, 2019, he confirmed that he was running for reelection, but did not yet publicly announce his campaign. On May 28, 2020, he officially announced his candidacy but stated that he would not campaign, maintain a campaign staff, or fundraise because of the state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Vermont. The primary was held on August 11. Scott won re-election to a third term, defeating Progressive and Democratic nominee, Lieutenant Governor David Zuckerman. Scott's 41% victory margin was the largest in the state's gubernatorial election since 1996, and the largest for a Republican candidate since 1950.
Kendra Nicole Brooks is an American politician and activist. She won a citywide at-large election in the Philadelphia City Council as a member of the Working Families Party (WFP) on November 5, 2019. The Council has seven at-large seats that go to the highest overall vote-getters, two seats are reserved for a minority party. Brooks's election is the first time a representative of a minor party won a seat on the council since the creation of the modern version of City Council in 1919.
Isaiah Thomas Sr. is a Democratic politician and At-Large member of Philadelphia City Council. He was born to a family of 10 children from the East Oak Lane neighborhood of Philadelphia. He attended Frankford High School, Pennsylvania State University and Lincoln University. He was first elected to an At-Large seat on Philadelphia City Council in 2019.
Rick Krajewski is an American politician who currently serves in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives representing the 188th legislative district. A member of the Democratic Party and the Democratic Socialists of America, Krajewski was first elected during the 2020 Pennsylvania House of Representatives election, when he primaried incumbent Democrat Jim Roebuck.
