Reclaimed is a mining reality television series that premiered on the Discovery Channel on January 9, 2020. [1] The show focuses on rescuing mines that the claim owners are having trouble exploiting. [2] Other than mining, other ways to exploit land claims are also explored, such as wilderness excursion camping, cottages, hunting; bush agriculture, and building mining camps, accesses, and facilities. The series was hosted by Alex Charvat and Kevin Gilman. [3] For filming, the series received a tax credit from the Colorado Office of Economic Development. [4]
Telluride is the county seat and most populous town of San Miguel County in the southwestern portion of the U.S. state of Colorado. The town is a former silver mining camp on the San Miguel River in the western San Juan Mountains. The first gold mining claim was made in the mountains above Telluride in 1875, and early settlement of what is now Telluride followed. The town was founded in 1878 as "Columbia", but due to confusion with a California town of the same name, was renamed Telluride in 1887 for the gold telluride minerals found in other parts of Colorado. These telluride minerals were never found near Telluride, but the area's mines for some years provided zinc, lead, copper, silver, and other gold ores.

The General Mining Act of 1872 is a United States federal law that authorizes and governs prospecting and mining for economic minerals, such as gold, platinum, and silver, on federal public lands. This law, approved on May 10, 1872, codified the informal system of acquiring and protecting mining claims on public land, formed by prospectors in California and Nevada from the late 1840s through the 1860s, such as during the California Gold Rush. All citizens of the United States of America 18 years or older have the right under the 1872 mining law to locate a lode or placer (gravel) mining claim on federal lands open to mineral entry. These claims may be located once a discovery of a locatable mineral is made. Locatable minerals include but are not limited to platinum, gold, silver, copper, lead, zinc, uranium and tungsten.

Christmas is an uninhabited mining community in Gila County, Arizona, United States. The mine which led to creation of the town was staked on Christmas Day 1902, prompting the name. During the three decades in which the town's post office operated it was a popular destination for holiday mail seeking a "Christmas" postmark. The series follows a long-standing jade mining family as they explored and placer-mined nephrite jade in the Dease Lake area of Northern British Columbia while also running a small motel and souvenir business in Jade City. Narrated by Martin Strong, the series debuted in April 2015 and focused on the challenges of a small, family-run jade operation. Jade Fever was nominated for a 2016 Canadian Screen Award in the "Best Factual Program or Series" category. As of 2021, there have been 7 seasons. The series premiered on The Weather Channel in the US on June 5, 2021. It can also be watched in Germany, France, Sweden, Australia, Russia and in many other territories. In April 2021, Jade Fever became available to stream on CTV.ca. The series was cancelled in July 2021. Prior to its cancellation, Tahltan First Nation claimed the series was being filmed in a mine in Tahltan territory without approval from the nation. However, permits from the Ministry of Energy and Mines had been obtained. In July 2021, Bell Media did not respond to questions of whether the series was pulled off-air owing to pressure from the Tahltan First Nation.
