Reed Dickens

Reed Dickens is an American businessman and entrepreneur based in Los Angeles. Dickens is currently the chairman of LA Golf Partners, a holding company focused on acquiring technology, media, and consumer product companies in golf. Dickens is a former White House Assistant Press Secretary under George W. Bush, and the co-founder and former CEO of Marucci Sports.

Early life and education

Dickens was born to Sam and Jenny Dickens on December 30, 1977 in Monroe, Louisiana. Dickens attended Louisiana Tech University and graduated from LSU Shreveport in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in mass communications. In 2001, Dickens was appointed as Assistant White House Press Secretary to Ari Fleischer under President George W. Bush. From 2001 to 2004, Dickens also was a national spokesperson for the reelection campaign. [1]

Career

After leaving Washington, Dickens founded Outside Eyes, a crisis management and public affairs firm in 2005. [2] Dickens was the CEO until he sold most of the business to his partner, and launched Marucci Sports with his co-founders in 2009. [3] He was CEO from 2009 to 2012. [4] Marucci Sports announced in March 2020 that it had struck a deal with Compass Diversified to purchase the company for $200 million. [5]

In 2012, Dickens founded Dickens Capital Group. [6]

In 2014, Dickens co-founded EQtainment with his wife Sofia Dickens. [7]

The Bayou Bridge Pipeline (BBP) is a 162.5-mile crude oil pipeline from Lake Charles, Louisiana to St. James, Louisiana by Bayou Bridge, LLC, a subsidiary of Energy Transfer Partners. Communities directly impacted by the pipeline voiced health, economic, and environmental concerns. They filed a lawsuit in opposition to the project and asked the Army Corps of Engineers for an Environmental Impact Statement. The Corps refused to do so and approved the project on 15 December 2017. Water protectors at L'eau Est La Vie camp consistently disrupted construction of the BBP for most of 2018, causing delays and millions of dollars in added cost to the project. They raised environmental justice and social justice issues and concerns about the pipeline's contribution to climate change. The pipeline was eventually completed in April 2019.
