Reginald Sampson (3 April 1899 – 2 April 1955) was an Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). [2]

Family

The son of Britain Sampson (1865–1925) and Ellen Maria Sampson, nee Williams, Reginald Sampson was born at Box Hill on 3 April 1899.

Football

Sampson played 25 games over four seasons with South Melbourne, only managing to establish himself as a consistent member of the side in 1919.

In 1922, Sampson transferred to Footscray (then in the Victorian Football Association) [3] where he played for two seasons.

Reginald Clarke Wilks was an Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL) in the summer of 1901. He was married to Gertrude Martha Wilks. He later worked as the hotel keeper at the Brittania Hotel in South Melbourne. In early 1916, he was enlisted as an ANZAC where he was assigned to the 16th Regiment, 21st Battalion. However he was discharged later that year for being medically unfit due to rheumatism. His medical records specify his condition first began in 1901, likely the reason for his football career being so brief.
